Dogs ask for them
My dogs love lollygagging on long lasting chew things. My 10 pound Chorkie and 55 lb standard poodle enjoy these the same way. Abt 2 hous after breakfast qnd later in the afternoon they bark at me and demand a chew. 'We know you got em.' They even use them to tease each other to play chase. Chew treats keep them occupied and content for a while. Dogs get bored and dig holes. Dig up bulbs. Chew patio furniture. Pick on each other. Chew treats are important to placate their restlessness if you can't be active with them for a while. Some ppl believe dogs will choke. Sure they may choke but they have a great gag reflex and bring it back up. Then know to chew some more. Its how dogs survive in the wild. They aren't like humans who need the heimlic when checking on an olive.

My dogs go thru these in a couple of minutes
I have two smaller sized dogs a mini aussie and a schipperke and I use bullysticks to occupy them when I need some quite time. With there normal bullysticks I can expect the aussie to busy for about 10 minutes and the schipperke will go at a stick for about 20 minutes before she gives up. With the Smokehouse treats the aussie finishes hers up in about 2 minutes and the schpperki will finish her treat in abut 10 minutes. What I like is there is no nasty smell associated with the treat nor are they greasy. They dont seem to bother the dogs digestive process at all as their stool is normal after eating a treat. I know the dogs like them as they both go outside to their special areas to eat and my aussie who usually will leave a treat on command refuses to listen to me when enjoying the Smokehouse sticks. Only issue is wish they lasted longer.

easily digestible. I think this is a very good ...
My 2-1/2 yr old, l2-lb Chihuahua/Yorkie mix loves these chewy sticks. She chews up an entire one each and every day. This helps to keep her teeth clean and healthy as well as fulfilling her need to chew on things. I place 3 or 4 of the chewy sticks on the floor to let my little dog choose the one she wants. She then proceeds to sniff each one of them, sometimes going through the entire selection two or three times (apparently this is a very serious decision for a little dog to make), then selects the "stick du jour" and trots off to begin chewing it at her leisure. I would never, ever give my dog rawhide to chew on because dogs can't digest it. The pizzle sticks are actual meat and, therefore, easily digestible. I think this is a very good product.

Tasty and attention-grabbing!
At least, I assume they're tasty, based on how our pup goes nuts about them. I haven't tried them myself, honestly. I mean, I like (nay, LOVE) jerky, but eating a pizzle stick is probably crossing a line, even for me.But for Margot? They're magic treats from heaven. We didn't want her chewing rawhide, because it can get caught in their throat or digestive tract, and these are a fantastic alternative. They've really helped in her pen training - she no longer whines like crazy when its time for quiet and she can't sit next to Mom and Dad. Now she gnaws on this and eventually falls asleep. We still watch her while she's eating them (she doesn't get them when we leave the house) because we're paranoid first-time parents like that, but they seem to be a lot safer than rawhide. The only real issue is how fast she goes through them - Amazon, you need to make these a Subscribe and Save option ASAP!

Super Chews for the Household Humans, but not so much for the Recipient Chewers.
From my standpoint, these Smokehouse Pizzle Stixs are 5 star products; however, I do not chew on them as our dogs do. Our two dogs are smallish and tire quickly from chewing. They will chew on the ends of the sticks until their jaws are tired; leave them alone and revisit the last chew. If I had not snipped the ends off (about 1" to 2") they will ignore them. Peculiar? By all means; however, Yorkies and Beiwers demonstrate those attributes almost all the time. The last time we went through this routine and after snipping the ends off, I gave them a new, unchewed stick and they went to them immediately.I think the product is super and if I were the chief chewer I would have given it a 5; however, it becomes an economic matter to pay for a full stick and only have them eat such small pieces. Maybe I can find another product to substitute for their chewing needs.

These are more a treat than a knawing stick!
These are not what I consider pizzle sticks. My dog devours these in minutes, they're wholly edible. I'd call them a treat, not a chew stick. They crunch and break into pieces and I worry my dog will choke on them. My dog likes them but since they only last minutes, they don't provide for his knawing instinct. He's a chewer and needs a pizzle stick that he can knaw on, that keeps him engaged. These don't do anything more than add fat to his diet! Be careful about these!

These are so good. We have bought at least 10 different kinds of bulky sticks. Nothing like Smokehouse:1. They donโt smell at all.2. Our dogs both go nuts on these. Put side by side next to ValueBull and they will never eat the ValueBull ones.3. Price is great actually. Only $1.80 per piece. The junk ones are almost that. And at the pet stores they are $3-4 each.Only complaint is the size and shape can vary a lot. Our little dogs donโt like the overly thick ones and sometimes you get a lot in a pack.

My puppy adores them!!
I am not sure of the dog size of the others who have reviewed. I know many state their dog eats right through them and fast! That is not the case for my 14 week, 10 lb Cocker Spaniel mix. Bodhi loves them and they last days for him! Days! They have been great to help with the constant puppy chewing. Yes, when I found these I was look for "Bully Sticks." These are lighter in weight. But you know what. I ran out the other day and went to the pet store to buy a couple bully sticks. He hates them. Hates! He won't even chew on the bully sticks. So I would say if you have a bigger dog like a lab these may not be for you. But for smaller dogs they are perfect! And they don't stink either!
