A compelling call to action
Jim’s book is a transformational way of looking at behavior in the workplace and beyond. It forces you to examine the micro/macro actions and decisions that develop workplace culture, but beyond that is creates a pragmatic guide to improving transparency, fairness, and a healthy notion around the concept of "dissent". It contains a rich culmination of data and feedback from many case study examples and presents the reader(s) with an undeniable call to action for change. “Doing the right thing, even when it’s hard” should be a core value in every workplace, and this book offers a pathway for anyone (and any organization) to live that value. Perhaps the most appreciable nuance in this book is the repeated notion and recognition of how difficult “choosing courage” can be, and even beyond that realization – how important it is do it anyway.

Great book
Great book. I feel that many people like me have trouble with courage and self confidence. I feel this book is a good start to looking to improve one's self.

Great for any leader or aspiring leader -- not your typical business self-help book.
This book is compellingly written, with lots of real research as well as beautiful, true stories. This isn't the other typical "be courageous" sap out there--it's really interesting, helpful, practical, and no-nonsense with a firm grounding in social science. My favorite part is the practical advice, or how to not get fired but still do the right thing and make change happen. It's useful for all levels, a great graduation gift in this day and age but also perfect for managers and any employee today. I've found it really applies to things outside of work too, but it's been most helpful in my everyday professional experience. Highly recommend. Five stars!
