Not the best in the series, but not the worst either
This is the 6th book in this series and is Patrick's story. Of all the brothers, Patrick is the raunchiest in the sex department due to the author's implied language he uses. The book starts out with Mother Kavanagh's friend's daughter interviewing with Patrick for a job she is clearly unqualified for. She's a socialite who's father is in prison for tax fraud. After the family lost all their money because of this, Libby's mother committed suicide. So, yeah this woman had a horrible year. She's without money, living in a fancy hotel because Maeve is putting her up, and Mauve is also pressuring her son to hire her on.Patrick is an Type A personality who has a business to help those in the business community relax and team build via camping. He knows (and so does she) that she isn't qualified for this job. Libby has grown quite a bit in the year without money. She's a strong woman who was raised to be sheltered by her parents. Never the less, Patrick hires her due to the pressure from his mother. For her first 2 weeks, he ignores her and has her working with the woman she will be replacing while on maternity leave.Libby is determined to prove herself. Especially after she hears Patrick refer to her as "one of Mom's misfits" when he's speaking to his brother Dylan. He totally regrets making the statement, but doesn't deny it either.Libby is likable; Patrick not so much. Yeah he wants to have sex with her, especially after she goes through a "makeover," which is really her going back to how she looked when she had money. Verbally, he's horrible to her. Sex is great, but he's a bit pushy/bossy in the bedroom department (that's not including his implied language). To prove she isn't fit for the job, they go on an overnight camping trip so he can show her what it would be like when they take clients out on this adventure. Of course there is attraction. Patrick says to himself he sees her I a different light, but due to his past he refuses to allow himself to have feelings for her. I know this is typical fluff romance novel stuff, but Patrick could be downright mean about it. And Libby just seemed to take it.Yes, there's the typical "event" that causes him to push her away completely and in a very hurtful way. Thankfully Libby called him names and slapped his face when he did this. His realization of his mistake and wanting her back was just a bit hard to swallow since he was presented by the author to be so heartless. Not the best in the series, but not the worst either. I just didn't feel the "love" of this couple. Lust yes.
