This has been a great gift for our 6 yr old treasure hunter. He’s had a ton of fun looking for all kinds of treasures in the back yard. When we can, he takes it to the park. We wanted to invest in a big one for a long time, but couldn’t find the reason to spend that much. So we went with this one. It’s been a perfect metal detector without having to buy a bulky and expensive one. It's lightweight and easy to use (my 6 yr old can do it). We don't use it for any professional jobs, just for pure fun and entertainment for us.

I'm equipping a security team for a couple of gigs over the next couple of months and I'll have to supply them with metal detector wands. These are a GREAT alternative to the Garrets that are 6X the price (and made in the same factory in China), and I'll be purchasing about 20 of them. This is very simplistic technology so don't be fooled by the naysayers, these will do the job.

The detector was dead on arrival. Unfortunately my son has misplaced it and couldn’t return the product within the return period. So I didn’t want to rate the product, and just wanted to caution the potential buyers. But Amazon forces me to rate it in order to leave a review. So I will leave 1 star, because of the poor quality control of the product.

It is very easy to use no programming, just install the 9 volt battery and it's ready to use. I use it to detect for metal in wood I reclaim ,before I run it through the planner to resurface the wood. It also doesn't scan big and wide . That way it's not picking up metal outside of the wood it pin points pretty good I really like it. I would buy it again in a heart beat .

I bought this metal detector to find my sprinkler heads in the grass this Spring. The sawed grew well over the so this metal detector wasn’t strong enough. It only found 2-3 of the heads out of 18.

I plan to use it for finding hidden nails or other stray metal in wood I'm planing or cutting. Tried it once and it works fine.

Does not have great depth of sensitivity. I need to check for metal in logs before cutting on a sawmill. This unit works well but only penetrates, at most, 2 inches. If you are needing to check just surfaces, it will be good. If you need to go deeper, like underground, get a better unit

Sometimes it doesn't switch over to vibrate mode very well, but it does work. You have to hold it about an inch from the person's body, nevertheless, it picks up pretty much anything a more expensive wand would. I'm happy with the purchase.

I purchased this in order to find metal embedded in salvaged wood and it does it well. It allows me to save my saw blades. Would recommend for the casual woodworker. Does not work on non magnetic metals.

Decided to try this detector after seeing a more expensive one used in a youtube video. Just tried it on a pallet board and was amazed that it detected a a tiny piece of metal embedded a 1/4 inch under the wood surface. This piece of metal was not visible to the naked eye. Dug it out with a chisel and saved my brand new thickness planer blades. Will be using this before planing all my used lumber from now on. Has the solid feel of a quality made product. Highly recommend to anyone using recycled wood.

I bought this metal detector so that I could find broken nails/screws in old wood that I was plaining. It fond buried broken screws an nails up to 2 inches deep. Very happy with this purchase.

Bought as reviews said was good for detecting nails in wood. Tried it on a #6 3/4 inch and a #8 2 inch wood screw. With nothing but air in between found the smaller screw from about 1/4 inch away and the larger from about 2 inches. With 1/8 inch plywood it could find the smaller screw if run right along the wood. Anything thicker and could not locate. Bigger screw found up to about 5/8 wood thickness max. Ad claims can find a stable at 1 inch but picture is of a thumb tack which has a lot bigger surface area than a staple. Would not trust it to find anything small buried even slightly in reclaimed wood. So called sensitivity switch did not seem to do anything. Is very sensitive for large objects like change in pockets. Returning it for something hopefully better

Needed to be calibrated. Had to open it up and adjust pot so it did not go off without metal detection. Works great now.
