Calidad garantizada

Solid whetstone, all other is a big flop
I have been researching prices and watching informative videos on the whetstones. My personal experience so far is limited to budget combo whetstones. As a whetstone sharpening beginner I soon got to a point where my knives got back to "paper test" / "manufacturer" sharpness. So, when I saw quite a big price reduction on this product, and decided to buy it to "step up" my small whetstone collection. So, first to get "the flop" / cons out of the way:(---) Plastic box that is supposed to serve as a stone holder is a big joke. It was cracked on the arrival and cracked some more after the very first use. Both stones are glued to a plastic tray and they became loose during the very first use. So I simply detached them by hand - glue is not uniform and it just doesn't glue the stones to the plastic tray. So, prepare soon to have two single stones and therefore you have to have a 'stone holder' for them.(-/+) In the long run, that is actually a great option (and the only option, to be honest, for any whetstone use) because plastic tray and the hole plastic box idea is a big flop anyway. So, customers that get their stones falling off easily... they are actually in luck. :) Use a stone holder, as with any other whetstone.(--) Stones are smaller than the product description says. I do not care for the size of the stone too much but the sizes in the description are false and this has to be mentioned. To be clear, divide 'the height' of the product in half and also reduce this height for another 2, 3 mm for the thickness of plastic tray (from which the stones will eventually detach from). So you get a bit more than 1 cm of stone and you will be limited with a stone holder as to how much you can use / abrade them. They are thin.(-/+) On other hand, lower end "combo stones" are also thin on each of their sides and also wear a bit faster. Zwilling stones are made of higher quality material and they will last a bit longer than cheaper stones. Hence, in total, these whetstones have a far better "price / quality / longevity ratio" than a cheaper combo stones.(-/+) This product is not for the professional cooks or those people honing they knives often and in large quantities. But it is more than adequate for an "average home cooks" and knife enthusiasts who want their kitchen knives in a tip-top shape. Now the pros:(+) All negative reviews about size of the stone might come from "higher end" users that are used to 21 cm long stones... I personally find the size to be sufficient. The stones are wider than usual and the surface area is more than sufficient to hone any knife. I agree longer stones are better but, for me, this stone has more than a sufficient honing area. (Use what you have; and you have enough.)(+) After a couple of uses, I really do not see these whetstones getting too thin (to the point you cannot use them anymore) anytime soon. Average home cook should be able to have them for some time to hone its knives.(++) Zwilling 3000/8000 whetstones feel good under hands while honing knives. My first whetstone was a Taidea combo 1000/3000 (which is an ok stone and gets my German knifes sharp) but comparing 3000 grit Taidea and Zwilling is not even possible. Not just the grit, also the material and the feel. Zwilling stone is simply better.Just the whetstones themselves, and the fact that I got this product at a reduced price (37 % discount / about in total €65), I give it a straight 5*. And at that price it is well worth buying. If it was on a regular price, I would be hugely disappointed. So if the regular price is being around €100 my suggestion is to look elsewhere. You can find fairly decent single grit whetstones in that price range. So in total, this is a 4* product.Realistically, this product, as a whole package at full price, is worth about 3*.I would suggest Zwilling to consult their teams to rebrand and sell these stones (leave the quality and the size of the stones the same) as a combo whetstone for less money to "entry / mid end" users. Just glue these whetstones together, and loose that funny plastic nightmare. You will make a success since you still have Miyabi Toishi Pro single whetstones for "higher end" users.(Zwilling, if you are reading this, contact me to send me royalty for the idea.)So all weighted and balanced and said... I give this product a 4*.And a reminder for all people buying this product to get it only at a reduced price and to have a stone holder ready.Realistically, for € 65 you will have to search very hard to get two single "splash and go" / "ceramic" whetstones of grit 3000 and 8000 that are better than Zwilling's. No matter of their size. :)

Fiabilidad
