Pleasantly surprised!
I have been painting for roughly 8 or 9 years. Mostly with oils, but I occasionally use acrylic for certain projects. Upon unboxing, I was surprised to see that each brush was wrapped in cellophane and that the smaller brushes had tubes over the tips to protect the shape. I was also very pleasantly surprised to see a card in the packaging with a 1 year warranty (and a teeny bit nervous... Because i was expecting a bit of rubbish). After opening, i washed the brushes as you're supposed to, to get all the glue off. It was easy, and after my brushes had dried, i was surprised at how soft the bristles were! The next night, i decided to sit down with my oil paints and work some more on something im making for a friend. Wildlife can sometimes be a bit harder to do with hair patterns and such, but i was highly impressed with these brushes! They compete with some of my more expensive brushes for sure! The handle is comfortable, smooth, and a good length. The bristles are soooo velvety soft (i imagine would be great for face painters/body paint artists). Bristles are also nice and springy, held their shape and I didnt have any loose/crazy hairs (which i absolutely HATE!! I hate hairs in paintings or stray hairs that paint a bit crazy- my older cheap brushes do that and it drives me nuts), and they hold the perfect amount of paint. Later in the week, my hubby asked me to custom paint his welding helmet. Of course i would cuz... Who would deny their hubby something so neat?! Same type of result, as well even on a buffed and primed helmet with acrylics. Beautiful strokes, no loose/stray hairs. Each time ive cleaned up these brushes its been easy. They clean up nice and retain their shape and spring SO nicely! As you can see, i am very pleased with this set of brushes. I even tossed most my old/cheap brushes away and saved maybe 1 or 2 for my kids to use. I will be back to buy another set of maybe even 2 for the price. I am VERY happy with these and I got a whole 10 for the price of a pack of 3 detail brushes from a craft store or less than the price of 1 brush of a super expensive brand.

quality synthetic brushes for an affordable price
So I bought this set because I saw a great deal (less than $20) and thought even if the brushes aren't great, the case was worth the price. The case is convenient; the brush holders fold and are held up at a good angle by velcro at the base. Just fold the back at the sewing line the first time and it will take it's shape easily. I've been using the holder for drying the brushes in the angled position and it's all as I'd hoped.BUT, it's the quality of the brushes that impressed me more than the case, my initial reason for buying the set, with the exception of the ONE fan brush that isn't "(3)" - description is off, which I knew before ordering because it's in the photo and the number of other brushes adds up to 15, as advertised - but I digress. Back to the non-fanning fan brush that isn't a fan but more of a wide misshapen rhomboid-ish clump (hence the four-star rating). However, there was a free detail brush included and I tend to prefer shorter handles but with the deal I got, the set is still a keeper. The very best of the brushes for me are the two rounds, #6 & #8, which each come to an very fine point at the tip. Having just had a big disappointment with a high-priced synthetic Kolinsky #6 round that claimed to have a fine point, I'm exceptionally happy with the round brushes in this set that only cost a few dollars more than one of the "professional" brand's so-called pointed round brush. I'm much happier with these rounds than with the more expensive synthetic Kolinsky brushes I've tried. After trying the two round brushes, I quickly tried the others, except the fan clump, to see how they performed. They all hold a good amount of water - not as much as natural fibers but better than some other synthetics I've tried. The flats and angles hold their edges well. There's a soft feel to the synthetic fiber and the brushes all snapped backed to original shape after rinsing.Overall, it's a great value for a set of quality synthetic brushes that happen to come with a convenient case. If you've read this far, thanks for sticking with me!

Love this product
Love this product. I run a wine and paint business and use these A LOT. I have even left them in water overnight and they did fine. They keep their shape and don't fall apart. In face one of the brushes finally was loosing hair during a class the other day. FINALLY - after 1/2 a year of use at least once a week. You can mash the hell out of them when painting and clean them back to their original shape no problem. I've gotten other brushes that I had to return because they fell apart after just 1 washing! Great price too!

So Surprised
As a portrait artist, I have spent a hefty amount of money on brushes over the years, because- quite frankly- the quality of brush you use matters. Especially with oils, you want a brush that is soft enough to blend edges seamlessly, but stiff enough to load and deposit the relatively thick paint. For that reason, I’ve generally relied on the Winsor and Newton and DaVinci brushes for oil paints, as well as some Robert Simmons, which offers some nice mid range options. These brushes really surprised me. They check all the boxes. They are not super stiff, which I find pleasing. I don’t like especially firm or coarse brushes. What I enjoy most about these, however, is their durability and the length of time they retain their point, which is my chief concern and frustration with all brushes. I can’t even tell you how many high end 00 brushes I’ve gone through because once the bristles begin to splay there is no salvaging them. I am happy to spend $14 over and over again for a pack of longer lasting useable brushes. I’m very satisfied with these brushes and they prove decent brushes need not be unreasonable priced.
