Great value/Works Great
My son recenty relocated from Florida to Washington State going from one tip of the country to the other. In Florida, many homes do not have furnaces as it stays hot most of the time. There were times he had to use his oven to help heat the house. Now that he lives outside of Seattle, he has no A/C because it "never gets that hot"....so they say. Boy were they wrong! for a couple weeks straight temps rose into the 90s. No A/C resulted in a very hot uncomfortable house. I surprised him with this window unit and he has been thanking me since. He said it keeps his upstairs cool and comfortable. He works from home and the master bedroom is on the second floor, so this has been a complete win, win for him. Plus the price was right! Very happy with this purchase.

It actually works !
Ordered the 10k BTU A/C on Sunday and it was delivered on Monday afternoon . Pulled out an 18 yr. old 12k LG unit from a through the wall sleeve and put this unit in the old sleeve . This GE unit was smaller so it was easy to cut solid Styrofoam blocks to seal around the open space ... New GE unit is working fine and a lot quieter than the old LG it replaced . It comes with a remote control which is nice ... I did download the app but after seeing the permissions this thing wants , I deleted it ... sure it is nice and entertaining for a minute or two ... but I really don't think I need to send the indoor temperature of my house to china along with the ability to monitor my carbon foot print and sell the info to the U.S. government .I am glad people write reviews so other people can get an idea of what to expect but when I read a few reviews about bright light inside the unit , I thought they were kinda crazy ... My apology ... the reviews were not crazy vampire people that were sensitive to a little light ... its really a thing with these new a/c units ... its really bright after install ... on or off it does not make a difference if the sun is out it will be about equal to turning on a 40 watt light bulb ... the cause of this thing lighting up is because they are using cheap open cell white Styrofoam which is nearly transparent as an inside/outside air separator .... like everything else , its likely much cheaper than black plastic .... the fix for this is a lot of work ... remove the case from the unit and paint the white Styrofoam with black latex paint or any dark water based paint ... or maybe spray it with glue and use aluminum foil ... just remember .. solvent based paint will actually eat the Styrofoam and likely void any warranty .Update .... Its been 2 months ... its working very well ... Eco mode on this unit works great , I would buy it again ! I should explain the picture ... My old unit was built in though the wall so I just left the sleeve in the wall and put this new unit in the old sleeve , I cut a solid block 5"x20" to fill in the size difference and printed the vent on my house printer and glued it over the foam just to make it look more finished !

Works great
I love this AC unit. Being able to control it from my phone is awesome, i was able to set a daily schedule for it to turn on and off to ensure comfort at bedtime! It’s energy efficient and the app even tells you how much power it’s using each use!! Its also super quiet!

Broke after very few uses
I live in a cool climate so I don’t often use this but after a couple days of hot weather and using it to cool off the room at night for an hour before turning off it now won’t work. It does what other reviewers have said, flashes lights and turns it self back off immediately. I’m really sad this will end up in a landfill. Cheap goods cost more than just consumers’ money and good faith, they cost the non-renewable resources of the planet. We need laws that make companies responsible for the repair and recycling of the goods they make so that they are forced to make better quality goods.

Fantastic AC & app control is amazing but I can’t get Alexa to connect
Wonderful AC - it really feels like it’s more powerful than the stated power rating which is fantastic. The app lets you control the AC from anywhere in the house with AC, showing the current temp setting and actual room temp which is very useful. The only hitch has been my inability to get Alexa connected. I can use the app to control the AC, but when I look under my account, it shows no devices associated with my account. So Alexa doesn’t see it. I don’t think it’s an issue with Amazon, and I hope I either find out what I’m doing wrong or they fix the app/account system. But using it from my phone is almost as good, and at this price, I’d be fine with just the app. Some goodApp shows electricity usage at the moment and over timeStrong fanLighter than expected but still needed helpReasonably bright LED display that goes out after a few minsAir filter monitor & cleaning alertMore cooling capacity than expectedSome badEconomy mode is hit or miss; sometimes keeps cooling needlesslySliding the window shade things into the metal sides cut/destroyed themRemote doesn’t have any display, just basic buttonsAlexa connectivity problems

Great air conditioner at an affordable price.
I bought this for the size, the price point and for some of the features. Most of all, to cool off my middle bedroom, which I use as a craft room. This air conditioner moves the air throughout the 2nd floor hallway, down into the livingroom. Keep in mind that my house is a midsized to smaller home.

Great for small to medium rooms.
I first had this for my master bedroom which was larger than usual. Probably 12x25 or so. It makes a huge difference for rooms that don’t have good ventilation or a/c like the rest of the house. Later moved and put it in my workshop/garage that is pretty big. I knew it would not cool the entire area, but it actually helps control the overall temperature and the immediate area. Good value for the money.

Dissapointed
It does ok cooling my bedroom , sort of. When put in the "eco" mode it does not keep a constant temperature. If set for 76 degrees it can be 81 and it still did not turn on by itself. My 20 year old GE unit was much better in the " energy saver" mode than this made by Haier unit. I should have purchased a Midea unit instead .

Not worth it
Before purchasing it, the description stated it was natively compatible with Homekit. It is not. The only control available out of the box is the SmartHQ app, which is extremely limiting as far or options. No public API available to control the AC remotely. It's possible to use IFTTT with webhooks, but as of today, a free IFTTT account allows only two requests, which only allows you to turn the AC on and off. After every restart, the AC goes back to eco mode, so to switch it to cool mode, no choice but to use the SmartHQ app. I added a switch using HomeBridge that calls the IFTTT webhooks so it can appear on my Home app, but it's nothing a cheap AC can do with a smart plug. I would return it, but I'm too lazy to uninstall it from my window. Not recommended.
