Q: is this the price for one can???

Yes - it's a delicacy in China (and other nations in Asia) and I'm sure demand from the region has contributed to it's price. It's the fanciest looking can of abalone out there, though, and recognizable to many, so it's a great gift.

Q: Any ideas for how to prepare this product? Seems like most people just slice and serve. Anything other preparations worth trying?

Steam the can (unopened) for 24 hours in a slow cooker. When it is time to serve, take out the abalone and cut or slice them to your liking. Heat a little oil on a frying pan and sauté the abalone for a minute and add a tablespoon of outer sauce. Sprinkle a little water. Sautéed for 30 seconds and serve. Or just slice the abalone and eat it as a cold dish. The essential thing to do is steaming the can.

Q: What is the expiration date for the product?

I don't remember the date however I did look at it and it was well within the date code experatin date

Q: Is it "3 whole abalones & a cut piece" or just "3 cut pieces"? how many is in the can and are they all cut into pieces?
