This wonderful and beautiful catalog replicates the vastly inspired exhibition just finished at the Metropolitan Museum. The essays are absolutely wonderful, by informed, balanced and insightful curators and other scholars. Everything about this catalog replicates the richness and beauty of the exhibition itself, without the physical weariness of actually going through the show. This catalog is full of great pix and wonderful essays. I hope to visit Pergamon some day. While perhaps one third of the pieces on display are from Berlin, I wonder why we cannot create a location with all of the pierces available for viewing in perpetuity. I understand the difficulties. Now that the exhibition is closed, buy this magnificent catalog!

Great exhibition, great book. If you can't make it to Pergammon, the Berlin Museum, and numerous other European museums, go to this exhibition. If you can't go to the exhibition, buy this book. Or buy it here anyway and you don't have to carry it back from the exhibition. But it is great homework in the evening in your hotel room preparing to go back the next day to the exhibition. And if you like the book and the exhibition, buy Peter Green's Alexander to Actium to understand the historical context of these pieces.

Catalogue of an exhibit at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Artifacts from Pergamon in Turkey, by way of the Pergamon Museum in Berlin. The Pergamon is undergoing renovation, so it allowed many of the pieces featured here to travel to New York (and New York only). I am not a great fan of Greek Art, but the exhibition and book are great.

The book arrived swiftly and in good condition. I was entranced. There is so much information in one place about a period in history and culture in which I am personally interested. All the information relates to the once-in-a-lifetime exhibit from the museum in Berlin. I hope to see the exhibit, but if I don't get to do that, this book will help calm my disappointment.

I'm not educated on this subject at all so I don't know what an expert would say but I loved the pictures and found the book to be very informative.

Sumptuous 'coffee table' book which features fascinating History, as well as a plethora of photographs and drawings.

I'm happy, I have bought this wonderful catalog. Colourful pictures and very informative texts. Pergamon is rich, but now forgotten civilization.
