Rubber sleeve became loose and traps gunk
Already had a green one and works very well, it’s not a thermos so you need to drink a hot drink within about an hour before it cools too much and it’s not sold as leakproof so I keep it upright.I bought a red one two years ago and it’s like a different cup, not in a good way. The lid needs to have the drinking flap loose or there’s a pressure build up that causes the drink to bubble out the lid join, messy. Doesn’t happen with the green one which also seems a better lid fit which screws on comfortably with no leakage. My main disappointment with the red one is that the rubber sleeve has loosened, it’s glued on, and a black greasy residue comes out and smears the tea towel when drying, annoying. Obviously it doesn’t give a good grip as it slides so have to use extra pressure on what is already a large diameter mug with no handle. I’ve now taken the rubber sleeve off and cleaned the steel body and sleeve and will try to glue it back on.Seems a variable product, couldn’t be happier with the green one but this red one is poor in comparison so my conclusion is , never mind the colour, but it’s pot luck whether you get a good one or a rubbish one. Think the red one is destined for the recycling as it annoys me.ADDENDUM Now glued red sleeve back on fingers crossed OK now. Saw another review saying the lid design has changed and my two mugs bear this out, the red one has a 4mm rubber seal in the drinking hole and the green a 2mm one and the little rubber seal over the air hole doesn’t seal completely on the green lid but does on the red. Hence reason I have to uncles the red clip when screwing the lid down as it’s airtight and the green just screws on no pressure and easier to I clip in use. Filled with water and placed upside down the red one leaked minimally and the green drained out!I prefer the green as I don’t treat it as a thermos and don’t need to unclip to let air out to seal the lid and always keep it upright, as I do with the red but if I was to put one in a backpack the red one ‘might’ not leak much but I’d rather use a thermos then anyway. Don’t know which is the ‘new’ version or if it’s just different from one factory to another.

Broke after a couple of months
I had the same cup, in pink and it lasted several years before the lid started to not tighten properly, which I think means the thread of the lid has gone. My replacement had the same issue within 2 months. I can't fault amazon, who have offered to refund my costs for the original mug, but I'm not sure I'll replace it with another bodum travel mug. They do keep the contents nuclear thermic, but as other reviewers have noted, you must keep them upright, even after you have finished the drink, as they do leak from the lid if on it's side. I have scalded myself with this cup, when I stumbled getting into my car and the sippy top popped open and the contents went over my hand. Not on my list of favourite purchases!

Completely Useless
The mug I purchased recently badly leaks and unless you can guarantee you'll be able to keep it perfectly upright I don't recommend buying this because it's not fit for purpose.I bought one of these travel mugs a couple of years ago and it's great, I can't fault it. I use it almost every day and it never leaks. Recently my daughter asked for one and as her birthday was approaching I bought one to give her for her birthday which was a few week later. As soon as the box was opened and I looked at the mug I noticed the lid doesn't click down half as much as the old one, but thought the mug was reliable. However, as soon as we tried to use it we discovered that because of the loose lid the drink leaks out if the mug isn't kept completely level at all times. This renders the mug useless. The kicker of this is that I bought the mug 39 days ago so Amazon won't allow me to return it, and trying to contact them is impossible.

Broke after a few uses. If I could give it 0 I would.
After about two months of usage, the lid stopped fitting the mug altogether so was rendered useless. My son and daughter both have had these mugs for year's and haven't had a problem so was very disappointed that mine was so short lived. It hasn't been in a dishwasher so hasn't been exposed to extreme temperatures. A new rubber seal wouldn't even fix the problem as the lid will not thread onto the base. I have checked and it isn't threaded. In the two months it has only be used sporadically so is basically brand new (as you can see from the photo). Such a shame for such a well known brand!

Lid will not close after 6 weeks of use. Avoid.
Had it about six weeks now, the lid has become more and more loose, to the point that it now just spins and spins and will not close tightly at all. I would request a replacement if Amazon let me, but it says I've passed the point where returns are allowed, so now I just have to keep this useless mug, and try to warn others not to buy it!
