Smoke Signals - movie
Very much enjoyed. A heartbreaking, tender story, with comedic touches that help balance out the painful parts. I hope others enjoy this movie as well. Delightful actors.

A delightful and really enjoyable film about young native people in north america
This film is a true delight. One of the few to contain NO gratuitous sex or violence and focus only on character development. The central characters are funny, engrossing and intriguing. The plot, although simple, keeps you focused and involved in the lives of the central characters. A great and enjoyable watch.

Favorite Indian movie!!
I remember growing up watching this movie on vhs I had the biggest crush on Adam Beach! 1 there's really no famous native American anything so seeing him on the big screen definitely gave me hope. 2 I'm native American myself so growing up with this movie we always joked around with other natives on my rez with references to this movie because it's so true!! "Thomas where's your Dad??" Etc. All time favorite movie hands down!!

Modern life on Navajo reservation.
Pretty accurate picture of life on Navajo Reservation . Difficult to maintain Native American culture in isolated country but Adam Beach and young cast provide comic relief. Touching and very funny.

It's A Good Day To Be Indigenous!
Oh, how I loved this film. It is more than a good buddy film or an on the road film. This is a getting to know you, my father and my family film.As the film begins in Idaho, on an Indian Reservation, it is the Fourth of July, 1976. This is the day, baby Thomas Builds-the-Fire, is saved by being thrown from an upper window when his house burns down in the middle of the night. He is caught by Arnold Joseph, played by Gary Farmer, a drunk neighbor who is eventually thrown out by his wife, Tantoo Cardinal. He leaves his son, Victor Joseph, played by Adam Beach, who is the love of Arnold's life. Off he goes to live in Phoenix. When Victor becomes a young man, his mother is notified that Arnold has died, and someone should come and pick up his things. Mom only had $40, but Thomas, the know it all and talks all the time, has money, and he offers it to Victor, if Thomas can accompany him on the adventure. Off They Go, and what an adventure they behold. The native Americans are still not looked at as they should be, but these two behave on the way to Phoenix. In Phoenix they meet Arnold's friend, a lovely young woman. Victor filled with righteous anger and Thomas a free spirit find the world. This was such a well developed film, superb acting, wonderful writing and directing, a joy to watch. Not maudlin nor sad, but filled with some very humorous scenes. Two young men with not much in common, find themselves, and give us an excelkent film.Highly Recommended. prisrob 06-06-17

Good movie
One of the more underrated films from the US. One downside is it has no closed-captioning or subtitles, so it is difficult to watch with non-native English speakers as the Native American accent is a little tricky.

Phenomenal Movie!
So very much to say…. The story was great, the acting superb. There was a great deal of stereotypical things and a lot of humour (some that may not be so obvious to someone with no “rez” experience). I laughed, I cried, I cheered. My husband (who is not Native) enjoyed it as well.
