Released May 13th, The Wild Swan was recorded in Nashville at Blackbird Studios with GRAMMY Award-winner Jacquire King. Recording legend Elton John is the album's Executive Producer. The Wild Swan opens with Noam Chomsky Is A Soft Revolution, a rock'n'blues celebration of a roll-call of musical, philosophical, literary and polemical insurrectionists. It ends with a dash of uillean pipes and The Wild Swans On The Lake, a stop-you-in-your-tracks breath of Celtic balladry inspired by WB Yeats' The Wild Swans At Coole. Vance's rich voice also gets up close and personal on the hymnal Burden, then digs deep for She Burns, a song and a performance evocative of Bruce Springsteen's Tunnel Of Love. On the ancient-but-modern Be Like You Belong, Vance's soulful rasp weaves through pedal-steel and simple piano chords. Ziggy Looked Me In The Eye is a piano-based, strings-buoyed soul-stirrer, a dignified tribute to, says Vance, "various people who I think have been part of a revolution. I'm not talking about Che Guevara or Ghandi or even Russell Brand for that matter - I'm talking about personal revolution. I like that idea constantly revolting against your own parameters."

Excellent album
An excellent album from Foy Vance, which I am glad to have on vinyl. The only issue, which has nothing to do with the album's quality, is that the free digital download code was expired. I reached out Warner Music about this, so hopefully they'll provide a new code for this. If this is a big deal for you, then you might want to check on the code status before purchase.

Great Album!
This LP is hard to find & SO glad I scored one from Amazon. Foy Vance has a cool vibe to his voice ...album sounds great no issues with pressing. I did get compensated for the cover damage....poorly packaged & was shipped with no protective sleeve box.

Always Amazing
I adore Foy Vance. This album is a little more polished, less raw, which isn't what one expects from Foy Vance. It's not necessarily a bad thing, as the album is quite good, but I prefer Foy unpolished. Listen to him live, on Bangor Abbey and you'll understand. I guess I would describe his music as folksy, bluesy, accoustic rock. I can hear a little bit of Ed Sheeran's influence here, as in Ed's most recent album there was a little bit of Foy influence. I'm finding it difficult to choose the correct words. Foy makes you feel deeply when he performs. In a nutshell, he's amazing. This album is great. You can listen to it in prime before you decide to buy, but I think you'll decide to buy.

I have a tendency to fall in love with an album
I have a tendency to fall in love with an album, and then nothing the artist does after that ever seems to measure up. I was obsessed with Joy of Nothing and was afraid I'd be disappointed with this one, and therefore put off buying it for 2 years. I wish I hadn't, because love this album even more than I did Joy of Nothing.

This is great music. No comparisons are necessary although some do ...
I don't know how I missed Foy Vance for so long. This is great music. No comparisons are necessary although some do come to mind. But this music stands on its own. Good material, great performances. Good production. What more do you need?

Nice music and artwork
I bought this as a gift. It wasn't pre-wrapped so I downloaded it to my i-Tunes and was able to enjoy the music. The artwork included is nice too. My sister loves it!

Perfect!
Perfect album as expected. It really is like a massive warm hug and, boy, do I need those lately! My husband died suddenly and young but would have loved this album. But hey, it brings me such comfort - the songs, the music and how it's all been put together so subtly... on the first play, I just leaned back and closed my eyes and let it wash all over me. Totally gorgeous, every track. You wouldn't be disappointed, especially if you play music yourself (I'm a bit rusty now with my guitar but appreciate beautiful music)... it's led me to want to learn and work out some of the songs on my own guitar. Just beautiful and well deserves the 5 stars I've given. Thanks to those who left great reviews too, and made me want to buy this one :)

Grows on you, especially once heard live
Foy's latest album, on Ed Sheeran's label, is noticeably more polished than his previous releases. This is what the public wants, one presumes, or what record companies believe the public wants. The album is certainly full of Foy quality tracks, if you are familiar with his music, but it wasn't until I heard him play them live that I was really able to engage with this album - the rawness of Foy's vocals and the expression of the instruments just feel a little too 'tidied' for my liking. As an introduction to Foy, maybe this will have a broader appeal? However, as I said, this still contains many excellent songs, with Burden being one that I particularly recommend you give a few listens to.

Love every song!
Have been following Foy for quite a few years now. Since the days on MySpace when I first heard 'Homebird'. Loved it from the first time I heard it and love all Foys songs. This album was definitely worth the wait. Don't have a favourite song from the album yet but I already know a few of the songs :-)Will see you in December Foy!

Upbeat...sounds great!
Why has it taken me so long to discover Foy Vance?! This is a superb album that shows off his versatility as a songwriter and musician. Upbeat rocky numbers contrasted by softer , nicely crafted 'pop' tunes (for want pf a better description). Upbeat Feel Good and She Burns stand out but there's not a bad tune in the pack!

JUST AMAZING!!
We saw Foy Vance for the first time as the "warm up" at an Elton John concert - in our opinion he should have been the STAR/MAIN ACT!! Excellent song writing and singing and his and his guitar player were amazing and having bought the cds we are not in the least disappointed! Can't wait to hear more from him and hopefully see him in his own concert someday.
