I love this CD
I first heard of Natacha Atlas on Putomaya's Arabic Groove CD, and wanted to hear more from her after finding some of the songs from this CD on Youtube. I was not disappointed.

Moderne Königin des Orients
Natasha Atlas ist meine absolute Favoritin in Sachen arabische Musik. Zum einen besitzt sie eine umwerfende Stimme, die bei tiefen Tönen jazzig groovt und in Höhenlagen vibrierend abhebt. Bei Liedern wie "Mon amie la rose", "I put a spell on you" und "Yallah chant" bekomme ich eine absolute Gänsehaut wie sonst nur bei manchen Liedern von Robert Plant. Zum anderen ist Natacha Atlas, in Belgien aufgewachsen mit lybischer Abstammung, eine Wanderin zwischen den Kulturen. Sie verleiht französischen Chansons etwas exotisches und tradtionellen arabischen Liedern etwas Modernes.Diese Best of-Sammlung enthält immerhin die meisten von Atlas' besten Liedern, natürlich fehlt etwas wie bei Greatest Hits CDs üblich, z.B. "Le soleil d'Egypt" oder "Soledad", aber trotzdem eine hervorragende CD.
