Defective Paint Roller Attachment – Failed During First Use
I’ve used a similar item in the past without too many issues; however, it was a manual method of pushing paint to the roller. This is for an airless paint sprayer so you use your airless pump to give you continuous paint on the roller with no refilling and no dipping. To start with it worked exactly like I expected and wanted by supplying the right amount of paint to the roller so I could quickly paint the cathedral ceiling from a scaffold. Later, as I was applying the same primer to the newly finished wall next to the ceiling, I noticed the roller started to squeal occasionally. Not a big deal but irritating nonetheless.Worse, the roller soon started sliding instead of rolling on the wall surface. This happens sometimes when you really load up the roller with paint until you can spread the paint out a bit, then the roller starts rolling again. In that type of instance, it’s not a problem. The problem I was now experiencing was even when the roller was only partially loaded with paint or hardly loaded at all. It continued to get worse until I finally gave up.I pulled the roller apart and found that the paint had fully infiltrated the “bearing” area and restricted the free rolling of the roller. I threw the roller and the inner assembly in the trash as there was no way to take it apart and clean it that I could see, plus I didn’t have the time to mess with it. I was up against a deadline. Pulled out my old trusty manual-feed paint roller and finished the job.Amazon Vine sent this product to me for an honest unbiased review. Would I recommend it? No. Maybe I got a defective roller, but it didn’t even last one use, and I’ve done lots of manual feed paint roller painting in the past. I really wanted to like this roller and thought it would be a good addition. It was a complete waste of money.
