They're Playing Our Song: A Memoir

Don't date Carole Bayer Sager--Unless you want to end up in her book!
This is a wonderful book, written by arguably the great female singer-songwriter of our era that you've likely not heard of. In her time in both New York and LA, Sager rubbed shoulders with a Who's Who of Hollywood and the music world. Frankly, it's hard to digest some of this woe-is-my attitude that percolates throughout the book. Why am I supposed to feel sorry for you when you're living this life. And I wish Sager could have been kinder, gentler to Burt Bacharach. Do we need to know about his porn addiction, for example? This is too much kiss-and-tell for me. I feel sorry for some of the guys in this book and I have to wonder if they knew that their behavior on dates was gong to resurface as part of a memoir.Still, overall, this is a satisfying read as Sager hops from one famous person to the next. Some humorous stories and it made me wish David Geffen was my friend--that guy can really dish the truth.

AND WHAT A SONG
A GREAT READ. ONE OBSERVATION THOUGH, SHE RELATES STORIES BOUT MICHAEL JACKSON WITHOUT ANY MENTION OF HIS ALLEGED GAY PAEDOPHILE ACTIVITIES!! HIS DEAD SO NOBODY CAN SUE SO BY NOT MENTIONING IT ENABLES HIS ACTIONS. .....NEVERTHELESS A GREAT READ. I'VE NEVER PAID £16.99 FOR A PAPERBACK, BUT I DID ENJOY BOOK

truthful but typical of what i expect from low self esteem hollywood crowd
a good book about her writing and her personal life but she comes across as hypocritical on her own views completely as a person.. her mother shunned her which is sad but she nevre grew up and blames everyone else. the people around her wereny much better in the industry and the people who became her friends didnt seem that nice either ( bette midler still sounds like a b*tch to me ) alll in all a good songwriter and is happy to dish dirt on her ex who im sure is a piece of work but has she looked in the mirror at herself. ? just comes ascross as sad and pathetic individual. how she wrote these songs with her twisted drama set mind is a mystery! i wouold hate to be at any of her dinner parties or even know her. makes you more glad NOT be part of the hollywood elite with all the backstabbing at the end you are relieved to put the book down. it makes you feel better about your basic down to earth life. worth reading

Good read. You'll especially love it if you're a songwriter, or aspiring writer.
