So this is kind of an enigma of a set. The tray, stylus and level are made from beautiful wood that's really nice quality. I also love the bags for storage. It could be a nice gift set, except the cards are a little wonky. They're made from what looks like recycled paper bags, and they're sort of warped and flimsy. I'd like them to be more durable for little ones. Also, there's no sand included! I hate giving gifts that require the recipient to go out and buy something else to be able to use it. You can get kinetic sand for like $2 at the big retail chains, but Amazon doesn't even have small containers of it. It would not have added much to the cost of making these to include a small package of it.

Nice, Sturdy and Beautiful Set! Part of a present for my niece. Setting up a Montessori home school area, for the next year. We are not really sure if she will be able to attend school with other students. This will be helpful in continuing her education.There are two cloth bags that help hold all the parts and pieces. The pencil (does not have lead), is a thicker one, for smaller hands. It is easy to hold. This is made to use with kinetic sand. (but since she still puts things in her mouth, we are starting with pink salt.) She will also be starting by working on the letters with her fingers, then she will try the pencil.This will be a great tool that she can continue using for a while. The cards are nice, and study enough to stand on their own (in the easel part of the tray.) The alphabet is bold and easy to see.It comes with a scraper tool, to be used as a kind of eraser, and even out the salt or sand, so you can begin again.It is a beautiful set.

I've been trying different items to help a 5 year old work on learning her alphabet and this is a great option to the rotation! First, there is no sand included in this set and that's disappointing. I didn't realize that when ordering so make sure to order sand. The writing tray is of good quality. This set includes a sand tray, sandpaper letters, wooden pen, flashcards, and storage bags to store everything in. This was a good change to the typical learning she does with her letters and provided a little more fun to her day. And, it's easy to continue using this tray for learning to write works and numbers.
