Excellent storage option if you need additional space and don’t have or want a trailer. Easy to install and setup (with 2 people). I recommend for buyers to look at what kind of trailer plug they have... I had to buy a $8 flat to round trailer adapter.Other customers had recommended to buy a hitch tightener which I did, however my product came with one so I will return it.PROS:-Build quality is above expectations.-Mine stayed water proof for 1400 miles though 20 hours of rain.-Backup safety latch hand screw-Quality steel frameCons:Not a big deal, but there is a space for mounting license plate but no predrilled holes.The brake light cables dont have any convenient mounting hooks or ways to stow excess cabling. When box isn’t mounted I had to tape cord to side of box to prevent damage.So superficial complaints but not a deal breaker.I completely recommend buying.P.S. Note: In some cases (Tahoe/Suburban) you wont be able to open the lift gate all the way, so in my case I pulled the box out of hitch to last hole. This did stay safe and sung for duration of trip. Before I returned I purchased a 8” hitch extension so if fit better. Same result just better peace at mind.

One of the best items I have ever purchased ~ !! It is extremely well built and tougher than nails. And I'm a Tim Allan kind of guy. Hu,hu! It does not bobble going down the road ~ solid as a rock back there. Opens up, pivots and swings away like butter. Closes 100% secure with a heavy duty latch, pin and quick turn bolt. NO LEAKS! We have been all over this country, thousands of miles, with this thing and it works absolutely flawlessly. Seriously, Get it, its worth it!

The only thing I didn't like was losing the backup camera (the factory camera on my 2016 Forester was too low to see over the box). I recently added a camera (DoHonest HD 1080P Digital Wireless Backup Camera Kit with 5 Inch TFT Monitor) . I drilled a hole to run the camera wire into the box and over to the tail light, and sealed the hole with black silicone. I have to turn the running or headlights on to power it up but that gives an added avantage of being able to use it at any time, and avoids the hassle of conneting to backup light on the car and running wire to the camera , plus the wiring is inside, protected from the weather. Monitor is a simple install, I used the included sticky pads to mount the holder rather on the dash than use the windshield suction cup, and the power cord plugs in to the cigarette lighter outlet and done.I've included photos of the camera installation, along with overall shots of the box on the Forester.My wife does dog agility and the rear of the car is always packed with dog gear so the added easily accesiblie space is a perfect solution. I love the convienience and especially in these days of Covid it's a wonderful way to pick up curbside groceries without contact.

We loved this purchase. After taking two long trips and driving long miles we took notice of other fabric carriers on the road that were exposured to the winter elements and the lack of security.This carrier allowed us to free up space in the interior of our SUV. We also appreciated having access to the back of vehicle since it was on a swing bar.Only caution I would have for other buyers is the weight of the carrier can be challenging when slipping it into the hitch and removing it.

This has been a quality-of-life saver. I travel for my work. So my car ends up pretty full of 'stuff' by the end of a contract. I purchased this as a way to expand my storage space, without the hassle of pulling a trailer or crawling on top of my roof as I drive around while saving the interior of my SUV. This box is incredibly well made, it's solid and survived the shipping process flawlessly. The instruction provided are clear and detailed. The company (or at least it's Amazon account question answerer) are very responsive and helpful.The only knock. While technically you can assemble this with one person. It would probably be much, much easier with two or three. The components are bulky and sturdy; while great for traveling the interstates, isn't so great if you're placing this by yourself on your hitch during an August afternoon.Another small items of note obviously when the metal heats in the sun it expands so the arm latch becomes a bit difficult for me to manipulate. Certainly some will have no problems, but be aware. I'll solve this in the future by trying to park out of direct sunlight.

I would buy this product again if I had a need for another one. I’m all about quality and ease of use of which this product has both! I needed extra storage space for our luggage and suitcases for when we go see my parents in Florida. Before we bought this product we didn’t have any room for the dog. This gives us all the space we need and the dog can sit up front comfortably with us.

Excellent product. I love the swing away option. I didn't realize the box had taillights as well as a place for your license plate and a light for it too. It was very expensive, but living van life in a minivan doesn't give me a lot of storage space. This solved the problem and gave me an extra workspace to cook outdoors, and I can even stand on it to access my rooftop storage box and clean my solar panels. So, I will definitely get my money's worth by the many ways I can use this box. Being bear proof is a huge selling point because now I can carry my dog's extra food in the box instead of in my living space.

This is one solid cargo box. High quality material and a solid lock system. Did a boys weekend of golf and fit 4 sets of clubs easily.
