En mi caso no silvaba la pcv, lo que hacía mi xc60 era que al acelerar muy fuerte botaba la balloneta del nivel del aceite y por lo tanto derramada mucho sceite por todos lados en el compartimiento del motor.Hes más fácil cambiarla rompiendo la tapa vieja por las cejas. 10 min te tardas en el proceso

So easy to install and worked like a charm.
I only had to break the original cap on four tabs. Small flat head screwdriver and a rubber mallet. The whole process took about ten minutes. The photo is the dead one. If your car starts whistling and you're getting bank 1 and bank 2 too lean messages, this is probably the culprit. I might even keep one on hand in the Volvo Spares box

Simple to install and fixed a few issues.
The alternative is to replace the complete oil separator box for more than 200CAD, when this part is the actual issue and the rest of the separator is a passive part of the system.It is simple to install, measured in seconds. The old unit doesn't like coming off without breaking off the mounting tabs, but the new one just snaps on.This got rid of a chirping noise, high crank case vacuum, plus it smoothed out the shifts of the transmission when cold (the transmission computer uses manifold vacuum???).

PCV valve was the cause as it created a whistling sound. Quick method to check leave car on and try to unscrew the oil cap off , I was not able to , now turn the car off unscrew the oil filter cap and turn on the car , the car should stop making the high pitch sound . If this is the case it’s the pcv valve . Unfortunately Volvo only sells the complete until so I gave this a try .. Best way to brake off the old tabs was to use a tiny screw driver set you can buy from the dollar store. Place the screw driver on the old PCV valve tabs and use a hammer or rubber mallet to hit it downwards, this will break the tab off, I managed to break three tabs then pried the PCV valve off .Prior to the install I lined up the tabs from the cap to make it easier for it to snap in place ..I Hand-pressed the cap and am golden
