Very nice varnish to work with, but the colour is a long way from what i would call "light oak". I applied this to a very pale/neutral coloured hardwood gate, and it has turned almost black in places. (see pictures)This is much much darker than i expected it to turn out.I would suggest using a test area

Expensive, but works very well and provides many years protection and continues to look good year after year. Almost 10 years since garage door was originally done and now again looks new
