Works as it should, easy wifi set up
Like others, I was a bit skeptical based on some negative reviews, but I figured I would try it.I installed the frame on a 2003 GMC Yukon. I was only able to secure the top two bolts but it appears to be secure. I did not hook the camera into the vehicle wiring because I have a hot power plug at the back of the vehicle and I used the 12 volt set up that comes with the unit to test it as the power supply. The power supply cord has an on/off button and I just turn it on when I am backing up to my trailer.I downloaded the app and got it going very quickly.I bought this specifically for backing up to a trailer hitch and it is outstanding for that purpose. Time will tell if it lasts but I hope to get a few years out of it.

Clear and easy to install but slight delay
Easy to install. Works well. Minus one star because There is a delay in what shows up on the app. The App loads quickly and the image is clear but there is a 2-3 second delay.

Appears To Be A Quality Device
First off, the camera came quickly as to be expected from Amazon. The camera was surprisingly study. The frame and camera housing appeared to be made of of metal and are solid. I read several reviews before buying and was a bit concerned about installation. Now I have to say my truck is a Toyota Tundra with an aftermarket rear bumper and this likely made the installation easier because the inside of the bumper is much more exposed than what you will get on most factory bumpers. Having said that, I chose to tap into the license plate light power for this camera. This did require a multimeter because the light wires weren't strait black and red and I wanted to be absolutely sure I was getting the positive and negative correct as to not fry the device when powering up. I'm convinced this is the way to go with this device and not going to the considerable more effort to wire it to the backup lights. This because, like other reviews have indicated, It takes several seconds for the WiFi to connect and the picture to appear on the smart phone. It seems better to have the camera power up as soon as your turn on your vehicle so by the time you put it in reverse the camera/WiFi will likely already be up and going. Time will tell if having the camera running all the time the vehicle is operating will shorten its lifespan.I consider myself moderately handy. The install from opening the box to having a picture on my smartphone was just under an hour. Again I probably saved some time not having to fight through finding power and running wires in cramped spaces. but I was able to do the install using only what came in the box plus electrical tape, a few zip ties and tools. And the connections are solid and as good as any professional job I've seen.I purchased this camera in order to more easily back up to and hook up my trailer. When I got the picture up and running on the smart phone I was able to back up to the ball hitch in one shot (which never happens for me when I'm hooking up without assistance). I did this in the dark so the night vision was on and the picture was black and white. I found it even easier to accurately back up to the hitch in the day when the regular HD picture was active.Word of advice; the camera has up and down adjustability until you tighten down the top screws on the plate frame. At that point the position is fixed and the camera will not move unless you loosen the screws. So fare I am very happy with this product.

On the fence
I bought this because the backup camera on my 22 foot rv went bad. The installation was not difficult but because I have a cargo carrier I had to install it to the back of the carrier instead of the license plate holder. It is also a bit off center. I attached the power lead to the running lights which is not optimal because I have to turn on the lights to use the camera. But the only other option is the constant power source which would drain the battery. To use the camera it has to be turned on. Then you have to connect to the wifi signal it emits. This means you will not be able to use any other wifi while it is operational. This whole process takes about 1 minute and yes if you turn off the vehicle/lights you will have to go through the whole process again! Not great! As for the picture, it's actually better at night than the day. For some reason it's too dark even when it's bright outside. There should be someone way to adjust the brightness level.Another issue is the guidelines don't line up with the sides of the vehicle. There should be a way to adjust the guidelines to compensate for wider vehicles like rvs.As for build quality it is all metal not plastic and seems solid enough. As for how it will stand up over time remains to be seen.In conclusion because of the hassle in starting the camera and connecting I don't even bother with it most of the time. But there are times when I get into squeaky situations where I absolutely have to see what's behind me and then I will turn it on. So it's good to have that option.

Works as intended
If you know what youre looking at then you will know what you are getting into. I bought this camera specifically for backing up to my trailer. Obviously a wireless camera will take a couple steps to connect to when you are using it. The picture is great and it does exactly what i wanted

Almost a really good back-up camera
I loved the quality & value compared to dashboard installation of Chrysler original parts and monitor. A good solution for autos with no built in camera present. However it could be better so I urge the owners to develop better software that will (1) automatically and immediately replace the current iphone wifi connection to that required by the camera upon entering the car (2) immediately show back up picture when reverse is engaged (current delay averages about 5-6 seconds) and (3) program for audio signal just before the vehicle is about to get too close to an object.Despite some obvious need for improvements, I think this is a great product the gets the job done and adds safety to moving in reverse - just need a little patience. I’m not sorry I bought this camera and with the fixes I mentioned, I would buy the new & improved version. Thanks for bringing a value product to the market!
