Great Quality
My husband and I both were so impressed with the quality of the duck house. It's so nice we almost didn't put it outside.

Beautiful and Very Well Made
I received my wood duck box this afternoon and I am beyond pleased. It's made from quality material and with attention to detail.Wide opening clean out doors, actual shingles on the roof. It comes with wood chips sealed in plastic. Even has a grippy thing on the inside under the opening for the ducklings to climb out.I really like it. This is a fancy box.

Very good quality
I mounted mine on a post near the water. It seems very good quality. It is only day two, so I can’t comment on whether the wood ducks will be making it a home. Very happy with purchase. Seems it will last many years.

Disappointed
The box is sound structurally and everything seems well fitted. The oblong hole is the right size and shape for wood ducks. I could not tell if the exterior was coated to ward off moisture, UV, and decay, and could not find anything online to indicate it was or was not. Pine does not hold up like cedar, and will warp and rot when exposed to the elements--so I coated it w/spar urethane.Unfortunately, a shingle blew off with the first storm, and we were a bit surprised to find they're simply affixed with 3 staples, and no under-layment (e.g., tar paper) or wood coating. Also, the front w/bark is actually 2 separate pieces side-by-side, and it's fairly obvious they don't really match up all that well appearance wise. Also, not a fan of multi-colored bark, as it stands out against common gray bark on the majority of trees. I'm curious to know what type of tree it was obtained from, as I have never seen a tree w/this type bark. The bark also looks like it is in the process of peeling off. They have the right idea, but fail in execution, which is not acceptable given the price. Not related to the duck house: If you have starlings around, they will move into the house quickly, and if a duck has taken up residence, they will likely drive it out. They are very aggressive and I see them all the time chasing away bald eagles and hawks in flight. I used a BB gun over multiple days to ward them off, but they just kept coming back. I even obstructed the entrance w/steel wool, but they pulled it out. I came across an article at Ducks Unlimited website in which the author describes a duck entering or exiting the nest being driven to the ground by multiple starlings in a successful bid to drive it out of its nest, even though only a pair of the bunch would be taking it over. Creepy...
