Me decepcionei com este livro. Por mais de 200 páginas até deu para levar a mega confiança de Alosa enquanto ela lembrava e relembrava o leitor o quanto era extremamente competente, habilidosa, sagaz e mais inteligente que qualquer homem do mundo, principalmente os homens que a haviam "sequestrado". Deu até para entreter com a troca de farpas entre ela e Riden. Depois ficou chato. Ficou chato quando Alosa se viu em uma situação em que poderia colocar em prática tudo o que ela passou mais da metade do livro se vangloriando que sabia fazer, mas não conseguiu e foi salva justamente por um dos homens que ela achava tão inferior a ela.Por mais inteligente, bonita e competente que seja Alosa, ela falha em perceber o quanto o pai dela é abusivo com ela e um verdadeiro tirano com todos os demais piratas. É a tirania dele que faz com que os piratas se rebelem e queiram um novo líder.Pra mim, Alosa nem é tão espetacular assim como ela se descreve. Com certeza é bastante vaidosa e arrogante, mas ela é uma pirata normal que luta e enfrenta o mar e o perigo como tantos piratas que existem por aí. Se a autora tivesse optado por esse caminho, seria melhor.Eu não esperava muita ação ou aventura neste livro, imaginei que puxaria pro lado do romance. Riden e Alosa têm química, mas o interesse entre eles surgiu muito rapidamente. Quando Riden estava com Alosa, ele parecia um pateta. Quando não estava, ele era um total zero à esquerda.Daughter of the pirate King é só mais um YA de fantasia. Acredito que a escritora podia ter entregue uma história bem mais envolvente e cativante se quisesse.

Quando vi a sinopse desse livro pela primeira vez, eu logo coloquei na minha lista.⠀Preciso deixar bem claro que "Daughter Of The Pirate King" não é uma fantasia épica e super complexa, mas eu adorei ele mesmo assim.Quando li o livro, semanas atrás, eu estava atrás de uma história fluída, gostosa, repleta de aventura e humor. O livro me deu exatamente isso, e acabou me surpreendendo bastante.⠀A protagonista é extremamente cativante, inteligente e ácida.Ela é uma pirata e sabe como deve agir para sobreviver aos perigos do mar. Isso não quer dizer que ela não tenha uma consciência e que seja rude o tempo todo.A autora soube combinar e equilibrar muito bem as suas características.⠀Outros personagens muito bons são apresentados. Alguns da tripulação da Alosa e até mesmo alguns da tripulação inimiga.⠀O romance foi o que mais me prendeu nesse livro.Confesso que amo o velho clichê de inimigos se apaixonando, e para mim o relacionamento entre os dois foi bem desenvolvido.Eu também adorei os momentos de interação entre eles. São divertidos e cheios de provocações.⠀A única coisa que eu mudaria nesse livro, é o tamanho.Eu gostaria que ele fosse maior e que alguns acontecimentos fossem descritos com mais calma.Mesmo assim, ele me agradou bastante e me deixou bem ansiosa para ler a continuação "Daughter Of the Siren Queen".

Ich schreibe normalerweise keine Rezensionen, doch als ich gesehen habe, das bisher nur eine für dieses großartige Buch verfasst wurde, musste ich einfach. Es ist jetzt gut fünf Monate her, das ich Daughter of the Pirate King gelesen habe, und ich bin noch immer überrascht, wie wahnsinnig gut es mir gefallen hat. Die Protagonistin ist schlau, selbstbewusst und taff- insgesamt eine wirklich erfrischende Abwechslung zu den meist klischeehaften, weinerlichen, schüchternen oder unsicheren Protagonisten, die man so oft in YA Büchern präsentiert bekommt. Generell alle Charaktere waren auf ihre eigene Art besonders und hatten Persönlichkeit, jeder hatte eigene Motive, eigene Wünsche und Hoffnungen.Doch was mich am meisten überrascht hat, war wie gut erzählt und spannend dieses Buch war. Ich bin mit der Erwartung an das Buch herangegangen eine unterhaltsame Piratengeschichte zu lesen, wurde aber sehr schnell eines besseren belehrt. Dieses Buch hat Witz, ist spannend, hat eine subtile und glaubhafte Liebesbeziehung eingebaut und konnte mich gegen Ende mit einem Plottwist regelrecht aus den Socken werfen.Jedem der auch nur im Ansatz mit dem Gedanken spielt diesem Buch eine Chance zu geben, kann ich nur dazu auffordern es zu tun.Es ist jeden Cent wert und vermag zu überraschen! Es war mein bestes Buch 2017

L'ho letto in pochissimi giorni, la trama è scorrevole e facilissima da seguire, il linguaggio semplice a parte qualche termine marinaresco che può risultare un pò più complesso.I personaggi non sono caratterizzati nello specifico, ma li ho apprezzati molto. La protagonista, Alosa, è forte, manipolatrice e spesso prepotente. La ✨sexual tension ✨ è moooolto presente con l'affascinante primo ufficiale Riden. Ci sono state scene in cui è stato letteralmente impossibile trattenere le risate. È un enemies to lovers ovviamente 🙈.Quindi lo consiglio vivamente a chi vuole iniziare a leggere fantasy in inglese e a chi vuole una storia divertente e leggera!ENGLISH VERSION"Daughter of the pirate king" is the first book I read in English. I read it in a few days, the plot is smooth and easy to follow, the language is simple apart from some marine terms that can be a little more complex.The characters aren't specifically characterized, but I really enjoyed them. The protagonist, Alosa, is strong, manipulative and badass. There is a loooot of ✨sexual tension✨ with the charming first mate Riden. There were scenes where it was literally impossible to hold back laughter. This book was such a fun read. And the pirate theme was such a nice change from the typical fantasy genre. And who doesn't love a book about mermaids /sirens!In this first book in the duology we're introduced to Alosa. A teen aged pirate who has been brought up by her father Kalligan, the ruthless pirate king. But Alosa also has a secret. She's half siren. And now she's the intentional captive of a rival pirate ship on a mission from her father - to retrieve one third of a treasure map that leads to the island of the sirens and their immeasurable treasure.I found the plot to be fast paced and easy to read and the characters loveable. Especially Enwen and his sweet naivety and superstitions. As well the slow burn between Riden and Alosa as they fight their undeniable feelings for each other. And I loved that Levenseller wrote such a bad ass female character who is backed up by an equally tough band of women. Showing that everyone has their strengths. Alosa was who she was and was absolutely unapologetic for it and I'm here for that. Especially when the men surrounding her ( who she could best hands down) felt she needed to be more what tgey considered lady like. We need more characters like that in literature.Over all a book packed with adventure, some romance, and action. I read this in less than a day and as I was a bit late to the party was able to dive right into the sequel which was great because I needed immediately. Also totally appropriate for those tween- teenaged readers. Watch for my review of Daughter of the Siren Queen as well.
