Poor quality - probably a bad lot
The bat broke on the second game it was used in, right across the face - most likely this points to poor willow quality or manufacturing defect since most bats (all from GM) we've used till now slowly crack along the grains. It could be that this is from a lot just after covid (July 2020) so maybe willow wasn't properly cared for.And this is highest grade non professional willow from GM, being 909 costing around 9k. Also the bat was properly knocked in, oiled, and seasoned with an old ball for a few days before being used in match conditions. Yet it broke right across the face.On contacting the manufacturer, he said willow has no guarantee since they cannot really be certain of every piece. So the question is what is the point of buying from a reputed brand? To cut it short, the manufacturer declined to offer an assurance of quality that a brand should.Contacting Amazon was useless since they follow the return window policy - which is 10 days - now if one follows the precribed process of knocking in, and then slowly easing in the bat with an old ball etc, it is unlikely that one will be using it within the 10 day window in real match conditions - this one was used in a match 4 weeks after purchase. So maybe Amazon needs to revise the policy to account for certain kind of breakages. On the whole a poor experience and waste of money, and more importantly the effort in preparing the bat.
