I just bought a few of these to protect both weights and floor for Crossfit-style workouts - I did not buy them to cover an area of floor. That said, they're great. Durable and good shock absorption. They do have a slightly coarse grain, so if I was using these on a heavy-traffic area, I'd be a little worried about wear and tear over time. For my purposes, however - exactly what I needed.
