Nancy Reyner's Acrylic Revolution: Watercolor & Oil Effects With Acrylic Paint

A Well-Done Golden Artist Colors Commercial
When Nancy Reyner first appeared in this Golden Artist Colors commercial, I thought she needed to be told about decaf or felt nervous about appearing with all those massive containers of Golden Artist Colors products standing behind her. As the DVD proceeded, I started to like her, a natural born teacher who either really cares about her audience or learned to fake it beautifully. In reviews of her two books titled "Acrylic Revolution" and "Acrylic Innovation," much has been said about the DVD reviewed here that is inaccurate. First, some reviewers sound as if the reader should choose between the DVD reviewed here and Reyner's first book, both with the same "Acrylic Revolution" title. (The impact of the "Acrylic Revolution" DVD is not the same as that of the "Acrylic Revolution" book. Seeing an artist in action on a DVD is not like reading a book or looking at still pictures.) Second, some reviewers who watched the free DVD titled "Acrylic Revolution" inside the back cover of Reyner's second book titled "Acrylic Innovation" seem to think the free DVD is too short and Reyner should create a much longer one. This is a mistake. The free DVD is only the first eleven minutes of the real DVD by the same "Acrylic Revolution" name. The longer version wanted by some existed before the short free version. My reviews of Reyner's two books titled "Acrylic Revolution" and "Acrylic Innovation" are both available on Amazon. Readers who can afford it should purchase the full-length DVD and both books. All three are different, non-competing entities.

dvd good but could be improved
She is a wonderful teacher but the video taping focused too much on her and not enough on the demonstration. The demo on painting the sky was exceptional but as she described what she was doing with the foliage I needed to see more. She presents in a very ordered and clear manner and the dvd is a good companion to the book which is excellent.

A step by step guide, very clearly organized.
This artist has her stuff together. A comprehensive guide to the amazing versatility of acrylics.

Surprisingly disappointing
Being a fan of Nancy's books, I couldn't wait to see this DVD. It was unfortunately a big dissapointment. I have watched other instructional DVD's that were much more thorough and informative. I think the cameraman had a crush on Nancy because they kept showing her face when they should have been showing what she was doing with her hands/working on the piece. This was also rather short, so you didn't get to see a lot of the in-progress work. I was utterly amazed that she didn't even hold up the finished painting for the viewers at the end when she finished! Definitely not up to the level of her books. For anyone truly interested, they should get her book instead.

Very informative.
Trying my hand at painting seemed a bit intimidating until I purchased this book. It is fun and easy to understand. I was surprised at how fast it was delivered and what great condition, too!

you can paint
This step by step book comes with a DVD. Simple to follow and its easy to paint if you just follow closely to the instructions provided. Have fun.

I'm not an abstract artist
The video wasn't what I expected. I thought there would be more techniques sort of like her book. She used gobs of mediums out gallon buckets. Not something I would do for my style of painting.

Short and sweet
This didn't quite live up to expectations. A lot of the dvd was taken up with preparation which was interesting but a bit boring. The techniques used to paint the only picture were helpful but it would have been nice to have seen how these could be applied to create other pictures.

Three Stars
Annoying product pushing DVD. Annoying accent and very few useful tips.
