many, many flaws
It's hard to know where to begin.Half of the missions are impossible to finish unless you figure out some sort of gimmick. Most missions force you to research them on the Internet. There is no sense of reality at all. For instance, at one point you are shooting into a giant frame of steel girders, but you can only fire when the "doors" are open, even though it's just a giant, open framework. There is a submarine that your weapons can't damage, so you have to lure enemy aircraft into crashing into it. Again, use the Internet to understand how to finish the missions. Most missions have a wingman, and while you are trying to do your task, you often have to keep an eye on the wingman symbol to keep reminding them to go and do something. It's so distracting that it really detracts from the game. The game introduces too many random elements of play. Instead of flying and shooting, some of the first things you do include tail gunning, using a bomb sight, and intercepting a train at just the right spot so that you can hover over it for several seconds. These might make nice diversions after several missions, but they are some of the first things you do and just add to the random, haphazard feel of the game. There are several "cheat codes" available, but if you use them they lock out the achievements. I presume the cheat codes were released to make up for how difficult the game can be. Frankly, people ought to be able to finish a game. Publishers can certainly add some harder modes for re-playability, but it's just ridiculous to make a game difficult to understand just to add hours of play. On the plus side, the game rates your performance in each mission so you could re-play them for a higher rating. Also, your rating earns "prestige points" that are used to buy upgrades. You might find it necessary to earn more points just to get the upgrades for later missions. The game booklet is worthless for understanding how to play the game. It doesn't explain how to use some of the more obscure controls and it doesn't explain the map symbols. You just have to play and lose until you gradually figure it out.The plot is ridiculous. So ridiculous that it's annoying. The plot is explained through voice acting (not stellar, but I've heard worse) and artwork. Fairly crude. Some of the missions are fairly enjoyable, as they aren't all timed and don't all require completing a bizarre task. But far too many of the missions are simply repeating the same frustrating sequence until you figure out some gimmick that isn't explained anywhere except an Internet post by someone who also got stuck.

Many hours of play and a lot of fun!
I bought BA2 because I enjoyed BA1 so much. This game is a definite improvement over the first. The controls are easy, graphics are great and game play and story are done pretty well. I really like that you can upgrade your planes, adds a little more strategy to the game. The missions are not overly difficult but a few of them did get frustrating from crashing so often. My one disappointment with both of these games is there is no speed or direction indicator - while its not necessary for game play, it would definitely be helpful in some situations. BA2 also adds defensive weapons, and while a neat concept, on "easy" mode there wasn't really a need for them except on missions they were required.

A fun, challenging game
If you are like me and don't play many air combat games, this game will be a challenge and if you stick with it, one will continuously improve their flying and air combat skills. It has been, for the most part, an enjoyable play. I would have given Blazing Angels 2 five stars except for one thing: as each mission has several components, and takes awhile to complete, Ubisoft did not provide a way to save after completing each component, which was quite frustrating especially when I did not have enough time to complete an entire mission. If you have to quit the game, it would always resume at the beginning of a mission, not the next uncompleted component.

nice interface, fun, not quite a real sim, but pretty good
I find this game takes alittle bit to get use to controls. if you are a big fan of flight sims on XBOX 360, wont be to hard to learn. not a steep curve, but most of my sims are on PC platform.good graphics, enjoy the replay-ability.not a 5 star game, but definitely worth it, got mine for $10 used, so its a bargain. never played the first one,so cant say if there is not enough new content in this one or not. just a good battle sim, with some solid gameplay.

Surprisingly Fun
I normally avoid flying simulation games, especially when they require me to aim.I'm terrible at aiming. I'm terrible at gaming. But, most of all, I'm afraid of flying. As it turns out, this game is fun regardless of these things. The flying and aiming and gaming is all easy enough, and the missions are pretty fun. I actually dislike the missions that involve interaction with the ground -- which is where my general fear of flying comes from -- you know -- flying into the ground -- but the rest of the time it's fun, the planes are fun, and the missions and story line are interesting.

Fun Game
I bought this game for my teenager for Christmas. He absolutely loves this game. Now I can't get my husband away from it either! What I like is there isn't the gore, swearing, etc. in other kinds of games like this. Although the characters say the same thing over and over which gets a bit annoying. But like I said, a really good game.

Ok, but low res and maps are VERY small!
The game is ok, the planes could have been simple like a real WWII aircraft instead of adding tesla coils and guided air to air missiles on planes that should have been harder to fly and had realistic weapons. The missions were weak and the maps were easy to fly right "off of" (die). This game went from concept to product WAY too fast, they should have actually made at least 1 thing realistic! I would not recommend this game.

Excellent!
My 12-year old son loves this. He has the Blazing Angels 1 on our Wii, likes that as well, but this one is more sophisticated, stirs in a bit more plot and dialog. The language and such is a bit borderline for a 12-year old, but not bad, especially compared to the shoot-em games these kids play. Shooting at a ship is better for kids than getting used to splattering red guts...All in all, well done and fun to play, adults or kids.

Something different, challenging, and fun....
My son and I recently purchased this game. The creators of this game have done an excellent job of combining flying skills, historic air fighter accuracy, and different and varied scenarios in this game. I'm very surprised that more people haven't seen this game.If you want something a bit different, or have some interest in historic war planes. this might be a very good choice.

Great history and gameplay.
Bought it for splitscreen party-night gameplay. Filled the need admirably.
