Hanna Marine Alkalinity (dKH) Checker® HC - HI772

I kept hearing about how Hanna checkers were the way to go. Now I know that to be true for myself. Super easy to use. No color matching, which is so inaccurate from person to person.

This was my first Hanna Checker, I was using Red Sea.This is easy to use, gives good results. No guessing when the color changed, especially if doing your testing in the evening when it's darker. I put the test vials into the checker the same way every time. Typically where the break is located in the "fill to" line. Put that towards me, make sure that it's clean. I haven't had the need to use fancy glass cleaners/ lens cleaners, just a paper towel if there are visible fingerprints. then Bam, you get your results. No guessing.

These things are wonderful! I will never go back to slowly dropping and counting again. Those API test you get at petsmart are about the same price as one of these. But I'm telling you will be happy you did it. They are a little on the pricey side. I've been buying the important ones one by one every few weeks and they work perfectly. I'm telling you, they're more accurate than the API ones, trust me.

I was almost about to curse this product to the ground. I said to myself “man I should of listened to the negative reviews (although I am sure some have faulty products out of random chance). I realized that if I used it for a couple of days and it was fine and the next few days it wasnt fine, then it must be user error. I wasn’t following the instructions. Solved my own problem.

Easy, accurate, and a must to own for anyone in this hobby.

I’m a fan of Hanna and have never compared another test kit to the other ones I have but this one I did and my redsea kit test out to 8.7 and this is reading 10.5 so I’m not sure but it is consistent so that counts

Works great had a issue with alk and calcium and this is helping me get it back in range better then the api tests I have everything is looking better

I have a hard time distinguishing the small difference in color with the normal test kits. This takes all the guesswork out of the equation. My readings are more accurate and I'm not asking others for their opinion on what the color is. Since the alkalinity is only thing that really seems to change much in my tanks (other than Calcium, but that's another story), I don't mind spending the extra money for this tester since the piece of mind that the readings give me is worth it.

This is an excellent means of determining the Alkalinity in a marine aquarium. After working through the simple instructions for the first time it only takes a couple of minutes to conduct the test on the next occasion. The ease of use encourages regular testing. I have to agree with the presenters of BRStv on Youe Tube that Alkalinity, not Calcium, is the key parameter in a marine aquarium, along with Specific Gravity and pH. These are vital 3.In spite of the cost, which is still quite reasonable, this Checker is indispensable. It takes a fraction of the time needed to use a conventional test kit and it has been widely proven to be highly accurate.You will soon wonder how you ever managed without it.

But don’t buy refills on amazon there cheaper elsewhere

Bought this after I was fed upwith struggling to read the normal colour tests. The product is very accurate and makes measuring dkh so much easier, and precise. I have since looked to buy the other Hannah checkers since it works so well.The only downside it the price of the test solution refills. A refil will cost you about the same as a normal test kit but will get you less test. it really depends on how accurate you need to be, if you have a full reef tank and can afford the higher priced refills I couldn't recommend this product more, if you only have a fish only tank it may not be worth the extra cost.
