A great first read.
Erin is a young woman living in a world of magical and supernatural beings. When Erin but puberty at fourteen her magic manifested in a giant burst, unable to control it her parents searched for someone who could help. Enter the Illuminati a mysterious group who tested Erins skills and then purchased her from her parents. The same day she left with them and has never seen her family since. Trained in the use of martial arts and how to use her magic Erin rose to become the Illuminati's best assassin and believed she was working for the powers of good. After killing over two hundred targets Erin is devastated to discover the Illuminati are actually an organisation devoted to evil. Erin is left reeling by this knowledge a d runs away determined to get as far from the organisation as she can and somehow redeem her life. She ends up getting a job at Rosie O'Gradys bar and grill after stumbling across the place one night. Rosies is a place for supernaturals to hang out enjoy a drink some good food and good company. Erin has spent the last third of her life living by rigid rules and structures, all her decisions made for her, she doesn't know how to cook food or even clean her own clothes and the only social interaction she has had since leaving her family is pretending to get close to one of her victims. But she's determined to learn and wants nothing more than to be an ordinary bartender. Pity others are just as determined to involve her in their murderous conspiracies. A fine start to a new series Erin is a fascinating character so knowledgeable about magic and murder but clueless when it comes to friendship and ordinary life. She's a fascinating character.

Worth reading
A well written paranormal thriller with a dash of romance. An enjoyable read and a strong heroine, vulnerable in some ways but amazingly able and confident in other ways. This author was new to me but I will certainly read more of her books now.

Compulsive reading
Erin is both strong and vulnerable and makes an eminently likeable lead character in this book. Rosie O’Grady’s is filled with unusual clientele and staff and I’m looking forward to getting to know them all better.

5 star. We'll deserved
Fab story line. Really complicated characters, no that's the wrong word , interesting? Different? Sorry, obviously I'm not a writer. They were loveable?I'm utterly disastrous at writing reviews. If i stop trying I can whole heartedly say each book was brilliant. And when i finished a book i was desp to download the next. I've read the whole series and i can honestly say although it had a good ending I'm really sad. I could happily have read further adventures forever. BUT the author had more books (glee, .....my previous, my precious type fervour)

A great start to a series
Erin is just trying to move on with her life. But life has other plans for this ex illuminati assassin.A great story with intrigue and action and even a light smattering of romance. Try it if you like urban fantasy and a good amount of snark.

A very pleasant surprise
While looking for “bed time reading” when I am due in hospital I came across what I thought would be a quick read, how wrong can one be? Just a normal run of the mill tale. Well I started the book and I put it down when it was finished. Pacy, good character building with plenty of questions for the next few books. Hopefully the pace will not fall off and become the usual same as other books. This one is just right whilst leaving the door open for development, buy it a hang on.

Ok read but no real conflict or tension
Looked at the reviews for this and they were unceasingly high, however I found this book ok to read but no real tension or progression. The main character is ok but essentially overpowered so there is little conflict or danger she can’t overcome. Even the challenges she faces don’t seem to bother her much (no phone, furniture etc), the friends she makes seem unrelated to whether she’s likeable or not, but they are suddenly risking life and limb for their new best friend. Added in with a conspiracy twist with illuminati where she never realised she was working for the bad guys until a magic gem shows her the truth, all in too much suspension of disbelief for me

Great read!
Loved it! This is the story of mage who thinks she’s fighting evil, but then finds out she’s been lied to, and she’s actually been acting on the side of evil. So what does she do? She walks away, destroying most of that evil organization, and hopes to make a normal life for herself. Unfortunately, trouble follows her…..Erin is a great character. Well drawn, realistic in her angst over her history. Mature in her acceptance that while it was terrible, it ultimately wasn’t her fault. She wasn’t evil, even if her past actions were show to be so, in that amazing 20/20 past vision.Supporting characters are great too - unique, some good, some jerks, all real. You can so easily envision yourself in this story, and loving the great friends Erin finds at Rosie’s.Definitely looking forward to the next book!

I like Erin
I starts of a bit absurd, but gets better with every page. So, yes, I will read the rest of the series. So many unexplained things to solve. Thanks.

Noioso
Sono sinceramente stupita dei commenti positivi su questo libro. È piatto....un esercizio di scrittura ma privo di emozioni, lho trovato veramente noioso.

Well worth reading!
Interesting story line, the characters are showing some depth, and the heroine of the story is strong enough to be worthy of the title, but flawed enough to be believable without being silly. If paranormal crime fighting is your thing, then don’t go past the Rosie O’Gradys series.
