Unabiker DRZ400 Skid plates are the perfect complement to our rad guards for your DRZ. Weâ€ve spent the past 12 years beating on our own DRZ and have learned a thing or two about the kind of protection our DRZ needs. Our Unabiker DRZ400 skid plate is cut from .125†6061-T6 aluminum to keep the weight down and the strength high. The right wing covers the water pump and the vulnerable part of the rad hose. The right wing also protects the lower part of the clutch cover. The left wing comes up to the edge of the ignition cover. We spent considerable effort to make sure all gaps between the plate and motor are as small as possible to cut down on the amount of mud that can get in and noise that can get out. Our Unabiker DRZ400 skid plate is available in bare aluminum or anodized blue, black or red.

Not bad, could use some modification.
I didn't have a problem installing this item on my 2016 drz400s. I set the bolts loose and then tightened them after they were all aligned. These and the radiator guards both fit solid. The thing that bugs me is there's no drainage or access in the bottom and I'll probably have to drill holes. Also, the side mounted crash pegs can't be installed below the clutch without grinding room for them to fit.

Must Have
I have finally found the best skid plate for a DRZ400. It protects everything and bolted on with the factory holes in the frame. I couldn’t recommend it enough.

This does not fit a 2016 drz400s without modification. ...
This does not fit a 2016 drz400s without modification. It shipped in 2 small boxes taped together with no packing material. Instructions are clear but the holes are not lined up properly and the plate it only about 95% bend correctly. Save your money and get a properly fitting skid plate from a reputable company and skip this one.

Nice part became extra work and cost
The part looks like one of the nicest designs, I have not actually put it on the bike yet.The bad: When I ordered this for a blue bike with silver frame all the photos on the ad and the website show Silver, bare aluminum... I didn’t read the last single word on the ad that said “red”!!! So contacted the company as soon as I read the confirmation email a day or so later and this part just shipped 1hr before I called.... would have sent it back and traded for silver...but when it arrived at my house I had to pay another $29 in duty... not doing that twice!!!Decided to keep it and chemically remove the red anodizing.... cost me another $15 and 3hrs of time but it’s bare aluminum now. Looks good but this decently priced item now cost me more than any other I could have bought!!!!!The good: No matter the colour it should do the job and maybe save the engine from external physical damage. Fast shipping.

I'm impressed
This plate is like a magic trick.First of I need to say. I'm an industrial mechanic with 25 years experience working with all kinds of materials. Especially aluminum. I'm Not an office worker. I say that because I know what I'm talking about.I know by experience when putting a skid plate on, the engine noice is reflected upwards and makes it way more loud and unpleasant. Well it's not the case with this plate. Like they said in there description they spent 12 years fine tuning this thing to reduce noise. I was doubtful. Well they did it. This is why I said this is a magic trick. It actually cuts the engine noise by half. Just that alone is worth its weight in gold.If you look at the pictures there are 2 plates. I returned the other plate because it didn't cover all the exposed parts of the engine and reflected the noise really bad. Just a comparison between both plates. The unarider plate is way better, covering all exposed parts including the water pump. It's made with better grade aluminum and fits like a glove. Took me literally 5 minutes to instal.I'm so impressed with this plate.Bravo unabiker for spending the time and effort in make a perfect produc. I highly recommend this product. My bike is a 2016 DRZ400. By far the best mod I put on the bike.
