Bold, squared, simple and modern
For those who don't know, Kwikset's namesake is about their keyed entry systems – that's to say, tumbler locks that require physical a key to unlock, which can be reset to any key using their patented system. The Kwikset system allowed me to purchase three door handles and three deadbolts individually, then reset each so they all work with the same key – essentially eliminating five keys from my key ring. Some people are concerned with the security of this, but statistically most home intrusions are literally "break-in", not picking a lock or bypassing an alarm. Additionally, their locks are evenly rated with the other big brand names of similar value. However, that system does not apply to this handle, as it is not keyed. I purchased it to match the existing handles and deadbolts in my house; all are Kwikset, they are very well made, operate smoothly and without flaw, and have a sturdy durable finish. They use the same finishing technique for indoor outdoor hardware, guaranteeing that the product will be blemish free no matter the location or weather. These are closet/passage handles, meaning they cannot lock and require movement/actuation to unlatch the hasp of the doorway. I used it in a closet because the existing door was already drilled/bored for handle and hasp. A "dummy love" was available for less money, but most of these required to be screwed directly into a plank door, and have no way of attaching/covering a pre-existing bored hole. The fit and finish, and mechanical operation are perfect. This "iron black" version is excellent – pure flat black. This was ideal of my space as I do not care for the "aged bronze/Venetian bronze" two-tone ombre look. Bold, squared features and simple modern appearance make the contrast and pop of this black handle exactly what I was looking for.

Almost 4 star
The finish of the handle is perfect. Very flat finish which is what I was looking for. Not brown undertones but it is a warm black which goes well with the flat black, bronze and farmhouse look. It was a little harder to line up over the other knobs I have installed, but not a bi problem. One handle had push button missing. I was sent a perfect replacement. I noticed however it is really cheap plastic mechanism for the push lock. The handle feels substantial enough. Not near to the Emtek front handle but not nearly as expensive either! It feels pretty darn good for the price however. Very stylish. Purchased 5 exterior handles and 5 deadbolts. I have synced one set handle and deadbolt. Grew tired of waiting for my hubby with his schedule so I gave it a go and was amazed at how easy it was to do.We were in deep in our remodel and we splurged on front door but salvaged the 4 other exterior doors. We removed the cheap plastic grid (amazingly jail like for our good views) We used a dremel (just protect the glass so you don't nick it) A good sponge roller of flat oil (rustoleum in can) We mixed to desired color their black, brown and white) Took 2 coats both sides. Tricky and impossible on hot day. We allowed to dry over 2 days before hanging on new black hinges (could paint too) We used our iron modern front door as a guide. House now painted and top transom is painted black too to blend. These handles were the perfect touch and saved!

Beautiful! Simple adjusting may be needed. High quality.
I bought these in the “iron black” to replace some off brand, Venetian bronze colored knobs. This mate black wasn’t available in stores near me, so I was glad to see them here and a bit less expensive than this style in other colors, in store. Now to review...First off, the weight & feel is SO nice. I have levers of the off brand on other doors as well and they don’t feel this “weighty” and secure. Very impressed!Regarding install, I did find that when putting the inner latch mechanism in the door, it didn’t fit very far. So, I just used the screwdriver that was already in my hand to carve out the hole a little more on the top & bottom and it went right in. I then used my thumb and forefinger to hold and twist the inner mechanism a bit to make sure it was straight and level. I had no problems with the lever being askew as others have mentioned and I assume it’s due to this adjustment.I was also confused as to why there were two rectangular latch plates for the door itself. I thought I missed something, but couldn’t find it in the instructions. Then I noticed one has squared corners and the other is rounded which is intended to give you a piece that matches the shape that your door was carved in that spot.Even with a little adjusting needed, I’m still very happy and will be purchasing more. It really updates your space with such a small change!

Love the look.
In keeping with a "modern farmhouse" style in the rest of my house, I wanted black handles for some new doors going in. I prefer lever-style to knob and ultimately narrowed down my choice to the Halifax by Kwikset. Simple, classy look. I went with matte black and they looked and felt high-quality right out of the box, with nice weight and sturdiness to them. I didn't install this particular handle model, but I did install the dummy version on some closet doors and the instructions weren't difficult to figure out. As I replace more interior doors, this handle will now be my go-to. I purchased mine in Nov. 2020 at $30 and I see now in Jan. 2021 they're about $27. You'll pay a bit more for this handle than basic, standard knobs but you won't be disappointed in the quality or look. If I recall, I found the same or very similar Kwikset handles available through Lowe's but at a significantly higher price.
