Fun, thoughtful, inspiring... and with a fantastic twist at the end!
I really enjoyed this book! A tale of wonderings, and team collaboration, and fun! The extra details in Andrea Stegmaier's wonderful illustrations create lots of talking points (I particularly love the cross-section underground illustration). A story that builds and builds and builds (or rather, digs and digs and digs!) to the most fun ending I've read in a book for ages. Brilliant stuff!

Charming Story which is beautifully illustrated.
This is a book that a young child can either listen to or read themselves over and over again. Interesting concept one which fires the imagination of "what happens if I dig, dig, dig.Well written and the upside down picture is a brilliant idea - lovely book.

Kids playing in the mud, working as a team!
An earthy picture book about children playing outdoors and working as a team in an attempt to satisfy their curiosity. Do people on the other side of the world walk upside down?Jake decides to get his hands dirty and starts dig his way to the other side of the world. As he digs, other children in the neighborhood join him. Each one brings different tools and with each additional child, the hole gets deeper and deeper. Can they make it and what will the find when they arrive? My son loves to dig in the garden and play in sandpits. So he was pleased there was a book on the subject. I've found it is a good opportunity to discuss the value of team work, community and friendship. We always have a giggle when the children are at the bottom of the pit and are clearly going to struggle to climb back out whenever it's time. 😆The writing really hooks the reader and builds suspense as each step of the digging process is described. The illustrations complement the story perfectly with the earthy brown tones and add detail of their own to the story.A fun book that so many kids will be able to relate to. Beware though, it may give them grand ideas about digging their own holes in your garden. I really appreciate the note at the back advising children to check with an adult before they start digging!

Fun story showing teamwork which the children loved
Dig! Dig! Dig! follows Jake who decides one day that he'd like to live somewhere different like the other side of the world so he starts digging in hopes of making it to the other side of the world to see what it's like. The children loved this book and were excited to see how the hole grew and grew as the book went on. The way the book compared the size to other objects like the sink, bath etc. is great as this along with the continuation of the digging is a fun way for children to see comparisons of sizes and understand words like bigger. The story is also brilliant to show teamwork. It is lovely to see Jake start the story digging alone and then his friends and neighbours offering suggestions of how he could improve his digging and having them coming to help. This is a great way to show that whilst Jake is capable of doing it by himself sometimes it's nice to have a friend to join you or a new way of doing something you might not have thought of.The illustrations in the story are mostly in darker natural colours which fits perfectly with the theme of the book being digging. This makes it even more exciting for the children when they saw the last few pages with brighter colours and discovered what Jake and his friends had dug to. They found this amusing and for some a little confusing, I won't spoil the ending though! We loved this book, it's great fun to read and is brilliant to show how teamwork can help us achieve things more effectively and have lots more fun in the process.

We LOVE this story!
This story was really engaging for my son, the sense of anticipation builds really nicely. It has themes of friendship and teamwork and the pictures are gorgeous. Really lovely to see a book featuring children and not animal characters.
