HTTMT- Chrome Side Mount License Plate Frame w/SKULL LED Brake Tail Light Compatible with 7/8" or 1" Motorcycle [P/N: MT301-S-CD]

I inherited a bike from my late brother. Unfortunately, the plate holder he had on the bike somehow disappeared. So I took a chance on this one despite the only okay reviews. Overall it’s not a bad holder. I initially had some difficulty in installing because the diameter of the mount hole was slightly smaller than the axle diameter. IThat may have been a mistake on my part in measuring the axle. Nevertheless, it meant a trip to a local machine shop to get the hole opened up. The next issue arose after I got it attached. There is no set screw going through the bracket to set against the axle. Now that might not be a problem on some bikes but if like me you’re putting it on a Harley, it’s a major issue. So back to the machine shop to have a small hole drilled and tapped for a 10-32 set screw. Altogether another $50 in additional machining costs. For that much extra money and time it’s hard to say it’s really a bargain. So measure carefully and decide if you’re gonna need a set screw to hold the bracket securely on your bike. If you have a lot of vibration, you will.I think it looks good and after all my extra work, it is doing the job. But I don’t think I would choose this one again.Thanks for reading

The mount itself is not bad when I was finally able to put it on my bike. My biggest issue is the design of the section that mounts the bracket to the bike. Many mods were needed and luckily I had a friend that had a tap and die set and chart to make a set screw to prevent the entire mount from swinging around the circular ring that slips into the bracket. I also had to make numerous trips to the hardware store for additional parts such as additional washers, set screws, nut/bolt (for the license mount to be mounted on the shocks - the original was too short because the bracket was much wider than my original bracket), and heat shrink tubing to protect the wires.Other big issue is there is NO INSTRUCTIONS!!! You just have to assemble it the way you think it's suppose to go on. PLUS...you need to tinker with the wiring. I had to find examples on the internet and hope that the wiring was comparable.

I like the look and solid aluminum frame. I wanted to put plate and break lamp on sissy bar and this fits perfect, BUT....Half of Red LED does not turn on, so I checked wire. Connect different combinations. Red and white wires to original wires, and black wire to attached to the frame. Working half does all it supposed to, driving, break and license light. Is it wiring or defective?

This product is well thought out and well made. I would love to install it on my Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Custom. I would imagine many people will have the same issue as I did trying to install this product.Since this item is billet aluminum, for strength, it needs to be thick. In fact, it is 3/4 inch or so thick where the bike's axle goes through. Since my castle nut on my axle is flush with the end of the axle before installing this plate holder, I would have had to find and buy a new axle 3/4 inch longer than stock to make this plate holder work. Unfortunately, it's not an easy task finding a compatible axle that is the length you need. Sadly, I had to return this item and go with a much less attractive item.

Broke my previous one which sticks out more than this plate. This product has better led white light. This one holds registration plates vertically therefore takes less space. Fits fine for my motorcycle. Comes with appropriate hardware to install.Do recommend this to others.

Im not sure what type of license plate this was made for but obviously not made for Virginia residents. This is a poor design, it would make more sense for the top bracket to screw off so you can sit the plate inside the bracket not slide into place. Now i have to alter my license plate to fit if i choose to keep this item.

Knowing this was a cheaper license plate alternative, I purchased this same one a second time to replace the first which I snapped off with my leg while pushing my bike. The quality is not the best, but it works, the light is decent, and it matched the wiring I had before which made it easier.The mounting bracket on my original one was thin....probably why it snapped. The bracket on this one was way thicker....well over an inch, probably an inch and a half with the washers. My axle bolt is not that long. Who has an extra two inches on their axle? I had to grind down the bracket to about 3/4 inch so i could tighten the axle bolt to a comfortable level....praying the whole time I wouldnt snap the aluminum again. We will see how it performs and I will update accordingly.

It looks good on the bike, but the brake light isn't that great. I was driving behind my hubby during the day and unless you're looking right at this light you can't see it light up, so it's very hard to tell when he's braking. It's a little more visible at night, but not much. Do not rely on this to let the vehicle behind you know you're slowing down or stopping, use your hand signal!!

Well made product for the cost, will recommend.

I like it. the paint finish does seem weak and easy to chip, but it is pretty easy to touch-up satin black paint.

Wrong mount had to find the type to weld onto the frame... but good otherwise
