Definitely helps keep the Charger cooler!
As others have stated, you will receive a Motorad T-Stat in JET packaging. With that said and out of the way, it performs exactly as I expected. I installed this in my 2009 Charger R/T R&T and after setting my fan speeds with my DiaboSport Predator the car consistently runs at 185°-190°F which is exactly where I wanted it. As many other owners have noticed this thermostat opens closer to 185° than 180°, which in my opinion is better for the 5.7L HEMI anyway. You want it cooler than the stock 203° T-Stat but not too cool. Other than that it's a simple install, just expect to lose a good amount of coolant so pick some up from your Dodge dealership as well as some distilled water to cut it 50/50 before doing the install and you'll be good to go. Do not use your run of the mill antifreeze from the auto parts store. You want the orange/pink OEM Dodge coolant. I saw an improvement in running more consistent times at the track with this JET T-Stat installed and feel better now that my car isn't running as hot as stock.

WORKS AS IT SHOULD
Purchased for my Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT. Normal Temps with the OEM Thermostat ran anywhere from 205-220 consistently. With the 180, it now runs at a consistent 180-190 regardless of speed or outside temps.Seeing a lot of Mis-Info online about this topic/modification in general. Top concern being that you need a tuner to change your fan settings and that it'll make your check engine light come on. Changing Fan settings is great, but not a necessity. Assuming you'll always be moving & Bleed your system correctly, your temps should be under 200 even without changing your fan settings. Running between 180-200 is perfectly acceptable. All Fan settings do is keep your car from over-heating or from reaching a certain temp., meaning if you set your fans to 200, when your car reaches 200, the fans will come on and cool it back down to 190 or so and turn off. This means even without having a tuner to change your fan settings, your stock fan settings should still be adequate to keep your car from over-heating. Stock fans for Grand Cherokees SRT are set to come on around 220 or so, so in a unlikely scenario where your car is sitting idle for a very long time and hits 220, the fan will then come on and cool it back down to around 210 and this process repeats until you start moving again, it will then run around 180-190 again with this T-Stat.I have also seen a lot of people do this T-Stat change without properly bleeding their system, remember folks, once you introduce air into the system, you need to bleed the system properly. As soon as you remove the old t-stat, you’ve introduced air in your system. The Air in the system will cause your t-stat to not open and ultimately causing your car to over-heat. Doesn’t matter what T-Stat you have, if you don’t bleed your system you will overheat. These cars are more forgiving than others which is why people are able to get away with this mod without properly bleeding, but if you happen to be the unlucky one, your car will over heat. Bleeding your system with a Spill Free funnel kit is quick and easy .
