What a helpful, practical resource!
This book is a fabulous resource for ex-prisoners who are proactively searching for their place in the world of work and for those who support them on that path. It is full of common sense and practical tips, backed up by lots of well explained examples, clearly demonstrating what employers look for, how to identify and present experience and skills for a cv and, all importantly, how to create an authentic and upfront personal disclosure statement. The tone is strong, friendly and full of warm advice from someone who has walked the walk. Well done Phil!

Improve your employability by reading this!
An excellent resource for anyone looking for employment. I found Chapter 2- Improving Employability most helpful. The section had a table allowing me to assess where my skills and experience were in order to find the perfect role. It helped me to realise that I have many options that I may not have considered before because my skills were transferable to different roles.I liked the format of the book, it allows the reader to write notes and use the tables contained within it. It is a handy workbook, I would definitely recommend it.

A masterpiece!
It is no exaggeration to call this book a masterpiece. Phil Martin's step-by-step guide for prisoners and ex-cons should be in every prison library and in every job centre, and should be required reading for every prisoner about to be released on licence. Everything one needs to know is covered and is explained in easy-to-understand terms. If the Ministry of Justice were to give a copy of this book to everyone leaving prison the costs saved by preventing reoffending would be significant.Trevor Chrich Prison In-Reach Caseworker, SSAFA Buckinghamshire

Excellent instruction manual
Working within the prison reform sector I think the information in this self-help book will be invaluable - especially at this difficult time in the job market. Within its pages are clear advice, information and templates to use when seeking work. If you among the 11 million in the UK with a criminal conviction, these step-by-step instructions will help as testimonies from now-employed readers testify.
