just what I expected
I recently had to dispose of my 20" scroll saw to make more room in my little apartment and got this for small projects. I have had experience with jewelers saws before, and knew that there would be a learning curve with this tool because of its deep throat and different balance. Fretwork with a hand saw is an acquired skill and only time and practice will tell how well I learn it. One thing I can say is that this is a good saw. While I am here, I would like to comment on a couple of complaints I read in other comments. First, no blade. The fact is that this saw is made for over a thousand different different sizes and types of scroll saw blades, each designed for a different type project. In addition it is made to accommodate all types of jewelers blades. If they had included a blade, chances are a thousand to one that that blade would be the wrong one for the job you want to do, and you would still have to go out and buy a pack of the right blades. Yes, a pack of blades. scroll saw blades are fragile and break easily, especially when you are learning how to use the saw. Once you learn to use the saw, the blades wear out quickly through ordinary use. Rather take a chance on the maker giving you the right blade, you should do the research, find out what kind of blade you need and order it for yourself along with the saw. Second point broken wingnuts. You should not have to send back to the maker to replace a broken wingnut. like any other type of nut or bolt, wingnuts conform to an international system of measurements. Just take your broken nut to your local hardware store and find the matching replacement.

Great Saw
This saw turned out to be everything I hoped it to be when I ordered it. Assembled just like the directions showed. Cut great using the 360 degree blades that I ordered to go with it. The quality is every bit the quality of a similar coping saw I had years ago. Nice to buy a hand tool that has not "improved" for the worse. Thank you.
