This story grabs you from the beginning
Beautifully written with expressive detail you are taken from day to day within and outside this hotel and surrounding area. The characters were believable and so well written that you felt you knew them. Using the real life experience of the years in the book made the story more believable and interesting. This book was so well written you could even hear the music playing long after you stopped reading

Once Again,
What a wonderful continuation of the life and lives of all at the Buckingham Hotel, I have like the two books before, been unable to put this book down till I finished it. Now I have and can't wait to start on the fourth. So except to say it's fantastic, please excuse me while I start it. Till we meet again. Thank you.

Easy Read
This is an easy read story perfect for fans of Anton and Strictly. I didn't rate it a 5 as although it started off quite quickly towards the middle the pace slowed and I nearly called it a day as I was getting a little bored. Pleased I persevered as the pace picked up and speeded towards the end. Lovely read for a winters afternoon sitting in front of a warm fire with a mug of hot chocolate.

Absolutely Wonderful
When I discovered that Anton Du Beke had written novels, I imagined what wonderful writing he would produce. He always presents himself as a charming, charismatic and intelligent individual, so I was sure I was in for a treat.I was not disappointed, his writing is all of those things and more, it is captivating, with the novel being set in the glamourous surroundings of the Buckingham Hotel, so beautifully described, I feel I have been there.Romance and seasonal traditions are wrapped around a story full of secrets to be uncovered, lies to be revealed, and wishes to be made.Every possible opportunity is taken to present a wonderful, exciting and candid approach to the lives, loves and secrets of the characters, unwrapping their personas perfectly and making this a Christmas story with a difference. Set in 1938, with the second world war looming over London, the author uses the insecurity and uncertainty of the nation to great effect.I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this magnificent book and I look forward to reading more of Mr Du Beke's novels.

Very Enjoyable!
Another light and friendly read with twists and turns on every level. Written with thought and care for detail. I do think that some of the “terminology and phrasing ” were slightly off as the language spoken in the 30’s was quite different. … I felt that sometimes modern language and terms slipped through - but really this did not reduce the quality of this top dollar gripping read. Loved it and cannot wait for the next after reading 3 so far.

Beguiled by the cover and wanting escapism with a pinch of salt I succunbed
I loved the cover, and was curious about whether Anton du Beke could write, so I took a punt, not knowing what to expect but needing escapism in these horrid Coronavirus times and also unaware this book was the third book in a series set in the 1930s based around a hotel, it's guests, it's staff and resident dancers. Did I enjoy it? Well, I kept reading until the end. I felt it had more breadth than depth, but, to be honest and a few too many story lines and characters. But what I would say is that something of Mr. Du Beke's warmth and personality bubbled through and you can feel his love of dance and something of the joy and openness of himself in the characters and personalities he writes about.I can see how how his books might become a bit of a secret pleasure for me and that they bring joy and pleasure to those who read them.Would I read another? Well, maybe, I don't know. It doesn't pretend to be great literature, but it's very sweet and I hadn't expected the setting or the time frame which did add another dimension to what might have just been a story about life and lives and loves - a sort of Upstairs Downstairs story centred around a grand hotel - a bit like a recent TV series about what goes on in The Savoy Hotel behind the scenes. So, a lot to congratulate Mr. Du Beke on - a man of many hats to be sure and he can easily inhabit the mind of a dancer and make a reader feel the away and rhythm of dance. So, a bit of light entertainment, really. And nothing wrong with that. I just think it needs pruning a bit and less characters to follow. My granddaughter, not a reader by any stretch of the imagination, but a lover of dance, may very well enjoy this book and, if it brings more lovers of dance to books, that is pretty wonderful, too.
