Bobrick6806.99x42 B-6806X42 Grab Bar, 42", Satin Finish

I made a career in Commercial and Residential Construction. For over 45 years I ordered, installed and specified Bobrick products. They are the Gold Standard for Handicap Bars, Toilet Paper Holders and other bath and shower products.Bobrick is an American Mfgr. 304 Stainless Steel is the backbone of their product line. They have made their reputation by providing strength and beauty at an affordable price. This bar is no exception. I chose this length to install in a shower 4' wide and 6' long. I built this room for my Wife who has Alzheimer's Disease and requires a large enough space to allow a home health aide to assist her.My goal is to keep her in our home as her condition declines. From my experience with Bobrick products I knew they would provide a high standard product that would serve for decades. Keeping a shower clean is a priority. I chose the Satin finish as it is a good and durable finish which does not require much in the way of cleaning. As people age they increasingly rely on their ability to grip something to steady them. The Satin finish provides a high degree of friction.The construction details of this bar are exceptional. The bends in the tubing are uniform without any distortion or wrinkling of the steel. The escutcheons are tight fitting and have the same Satin finish. The unit comes with Stainless Steel screws which were long enough to penetrate 1/2" of cultured marble and 1/2" of cement backerboard and provide more than an inch of penetration into the wood blocking we installed between the studs.I weigh 200 pounds and when testing this bar, I was impressed that nothing moved as I put my weight to it. The importance of solid blocking cannot be minimized. The bar itself is capable of supporting much more than my weight. The screws are large diameter and will not snap off when subjected to stress.I highly recommend this product.

I find the steel grab bars with peened gripping surfaces to be excellent for safety purposes in the shower, the bathroom, and to get in and out of doors where there are steps. If you have balance problems, you need grab bars. The peened gripping surfaces give you a better grip than the smooth stainless steel grab bars. I find the one and ½ inch diameter bars better for me. The length of the grab bars should be determined by your particular needs. Mount them vertically or horizontally to hold you up or help you sit down. Maintain your balance and stay healthy. These bars are not that expensive when compared to medical costs put you back together.

Holds me up well

Excellent product! Put it into use yesterday as a short bannister beside the four steps leading from the garage to our first level and it is perfect for that application!

Cheaper than I found anywhere else.

No hardware came with the bar. when looked it up on line, said see instruction included but there were none.
