Have used several brands of supposedly "stabilized" R-ALA in the past few years. I bought 3 bottles of another brand last year which brand I will call PR. All 3 bottles had an expiration date of 8/18. Used the first bottle and most of the second but was not getting the results I had experienced from previous brands. Bought the PR brand because it was cheaper and was also supposed to be "stabilized." The thing is, when I queried a PR customer rep about their R-ALA being stabilized (it used to state it was on the label, but not recently), the rep assured me it was still stabilized, though would provide nothing further. I just had her say-so.Yesterday I put PR's 1+ remaining bottles in a drawer in frustration and ordered this Doctor's Best stabilized Na-RALA. With one-day Amazon Prime shipping it arrived today. I then emptied a 100mg cap each of the PR R-ALA and Doctor's Best Na-RALA onto a paper plate, and set the plate (covered with another paper plate turned upside down to heat quicker) on top of a hot radiator for an hour. Stabilized Na-RALA is resistant to heat (above 90 degrees F) and absorbs much easier (with concomitant enhanced bio-availability) than non-stabilized R-ALA (which breaks down into rubbery lumps when exposed to heat above 90 degrees F and loses any health benefit in the process). See the attached photo for the results. The yellowish, rubbery lumps at the top of the plate are from the PR brand, which I was assured by a PR customer rep was stabilized. The white, still powdery and unaffected substance at the bottom of the plate is Doctor's Best Stabilized Na-RALA. The results of this easy experiment speak for themselves. I would also add that I had to pry the PR brand R-ALA out of its capsule with a toothpick, that it was already partly solidified (not good) and lumping up inside, and sticking to the inside of the cap, and that the Doctor's Best Na-RALA spilled right out as a powder.If you cannot be certain the R-ALA you are thinking of buying is Stabilized, use your own best judgment, but I would advise against buying it. Think of unstabilized R-ALA riding around in the back of an un-airconditioned delivery truck for hours or maybe a full day in the heat of summer and hope your product can stand the heat. I have actually received a few packages of various supplements this way and believe me, the plastic packages were _hot_ to the touch, as were the plastic bottles inside. Why take a chance?While I have just received my first bottle of Doctor's Best stabilized Na-RALA and have taken but one cap a few hours ago I am confident it will prove quite effective. I will update this review in the near future when I have more data points to work from with what appears to be an excellent product.

Excellent quality. I’ve been taking this for a week and I’ve already noticed health improvements

I purchased this for control of peripheral neuropathy. It worked well for that as my feet are now almost pain free....BUT some added benefits I was not counting on. I have been taking this for 4 months now.1. Blood glucose control. Daily fasting glucose dropped at least 10-15 mg/dcl and am now running around 90 daily as opposed to 110-115.2. My skin! I did not expect this! I didn't even think about this when I purchased this because I was focusing on the misery of my feet....but suddenly noted after probably 2 months of taking it that the RED sun damage on my arms, neck and legs is GONE!. And my brown ones have greatly faded! My skin easily looks 10 years younger. No effect on wrinkling, just coloration.If I can afford it, I will probably take this for life. I am an RN and usually skeptical about herbal or vitamin products, and will also throw in that when I temporarily ran out of this I bought some regular ( non-R) at CVS that did not work at all. I will update this review in 6 months or so

I like that it includes Biotin and the easy-to-swallow capsules. However, the cost is a bit high.

I've tried a few different brands and types of ALA and this is by far the best one that I have ever encountered and at a very good price especially if you subscribe.ALA is an interesting vitamin in that it comes in a variety of types even though most don't actually label which type you are getting. When traditional ALA is made synthetically it is a 50/50 blend of two different types of ALA ( R and S types). These types are mirror images of each other molecularly but, studies have shown that only the R type is actually used by the body though so most ALA supplements are actually only 50% effective and the S type is just turned into expensive pee.Some companies will filter out the R type which is better but even then most of the ALA that you take cannot be absorbed by the body. This is why this brand uses Sodium (Chemical symbol Na) to bond to the ALA which then lets the body absorb 250% more and let it actually get into the blood stream. So this product is actually chemically 5 times as effective as a R & S blend and 2.5 times more effective than an R-ALA vitamin. Search on PubMed or other medical journal sites and you'll find mountains of actual clinical evidence touting NA-R-ALA for many different reasons.I've been taking it very regularly since 12/2013 and its antioxident effects definitely have helped me stay and feel healthy even though everyone else was getting sick and it also was a clear trigger in helping me lose weight by stabilizing blood sugar levels.At first it did give me pretty bad stomach aches until I got use to it and now I can easily take it with no discomfort even without food.

Still too early to determine if the product is doing anything (blood tests coming up in a couple of weeks), but the ‘burn from this product is no joke! Near instantaneous, inextinguishable, heartburn. No issues with shipment or capsule integrity as some prior reviews mentioned.
