Italian guitarist Massimo Menotti showcases a recital of the most rigorous Minimalist music from the 1960s by Steve Reich and Philip Glass. Menotti records each layer of the music himself, performing and recording above the previously recorded tracks using all the various techniques that were pioneered by Reich and Glass, two founders of the Minimalist movement, including phasing and open and closed forms.

Worth it for the 1st track
This is worth buying solely on the strength of a hypnotic performance of Philip Glass's 'Music in Similar Motion.'It sounds fantastic as a multitracked guitar part and Menotti plays it with an urgency that is really effective.

Very Minimal, very good
Sounds good! The Philip Glass songs are from the old school days of Glass, with very minimalistic composition. So, one should be a fan of the earlier Glass music for this recording. This is the Philip Glass music that a lot of people did not like due to it being so very minimalist, but I have always been a fan of these early Glass songs myself. As for the Steve Reich song, this sound great too! This song is less minimalist in a way since it has more complex layers of guitar, but is definitely minimalist in its repetitive segments. I would suggest trying a sample of these songs before buying this, to check if you like the super minimalist Glass songs. (For those buying their first Glass recording at least.) Philip Glass has music ranging from very minimal to very not minimal, as a lot of people do not realize.
