This Dingbats Pro Large Plain B5 (6.8 x 9.8) Hardcover Notebook is absolutely wonderful! I am a total stationary nerd and buy blank journals and drawing books all the time. I am also super picky about the quality. I don't want to waste my time writing or drawing in a book that will fall apart or that is made with sub-par materials. I had heard that Dingbats made good journals, but hadn't tried one til now, and I am so very impressed.The cover ("textile") feels and looks like a very black canvas or almost even denim fabric and is beautifully covering a very rigid hard cover. The embossed gold bee stands out well. The inside front and back cover pages are black with a gold pattern. There is a nameplate in the front, and a pocket built into the back cover for storing small items -- papers, stickers, etc. It comes with two attached ribbon bookmarks - one gold and one black, plus one stretchy pen holder well sewn into the side of the back cover. Finally, there is a black elastic band that will keep your book closed.The insides are gorgeous. The paper is just slightly off white / ivory, but not a true tan or cream. Very easy on the eyes. The page corners are nicely rounded to match the curve of the cover, and the edges are trimmed very smooth and sharp (no ragged edged pages). And the paper! Oh my goodness. At 160 gsm, it is thick and smooth - like a bristol board finish - and feels absolutely wonderful to touch. I have not used a lot of markers on it yet, but I trust with the weight that there won't be bleed through, possibly even with water colors. It's fabulous paper. The binding lays flat when opening at any page.I don't normally go with B5 (6.8 x 9.8) but this will be great for an art journal. It feels great to hold and is just the perfect size and weight to carry around or to drop in your purse/backpack.I'm thrilled with this book!

This is just beautiful, with drawing-quality paper. It's a little fancy, so not something I would want to get wet or soiled. It's also quite pricey. I mean, I could have got cheaper but I love Dingbats and this is an especially lovely model in their range. Go on, treat yourself, journal and draw your way to a new future!

I’ll admit it, I have an art supply problem. I love to hoard (and of course use) art supplies. I also used to have a stationary problem, I’d buy endless lined notebooks with pretty covers that I, of course, never had any use for. With this Dingbats Hardcover Sketchbook I’ve realised a way to combine those obsessions and re-ignite my passion for pretty stationary,and that’s beautiful sketchbooks!This Sketchbook really is a beaut. Even though I’m not a bee fan (I am in theory and I’d never hurt one, but all insect type things wig me out), as a design motif it is really lovely. The gold contrasted against the black is pretty and the ‘wing’ texture inside the notebook even more so. I have a special place in my heart for linen fabrics and this sketchbook has a linen textured look and feel to it that I just adore.For functionality it has a storage pouch and an elastic to help keep it shut, as well as a ribbon bookmark and pen holder. Hardcover sketchbooks can be too expensive and this is a great budget option that still feels high-end.The quality of the paper is lovely and thick. I’m an amateur artist, so I included my roughly and quickly completed sketch of my main in a game I’m playing for reference. It was completed entirely in Sharpie and didn’t bleed through. If you’re doing Sharpie art or alcohol inks in this book they might eventually bleed through with repeated going over, so I still suggest popping something behind in this cases, but otherwise this book should take most media without too much trouble.The fact that it’s handmade by a company with history and vegan is just great on top of everything else. I really can’t imagine anyone being disappointed here. I have a set of markers by the same brand and they are also fantastic.
