Update 10/18/17
these actually do seem to work - at least 1 does anyway. I have caught 2 rats and 1 mouse in one trap over 3 days - the rest nothing. AM assuming it's a case of I have to find the "sweet spot" to get the others working, PButter isn't doing it - had to go with cheese. I like the fact that these traps are not 100% cheap plastic and my fingers aren't in danger when setting it. we'll see if they hold up.Update - 9/29/17 - bought 4 more of these - they definitely do work. The keys - find the hotspots, pull anything they can eat (including paper labels off cans!) and use something smelly/tasty for bait. Mine liked Italian cheese (not cheap American!) Caught 4 one night and 3 two nights later. They tend to shy away for a couple nights - but then they get stupid again. The traps do a great job of taking them out fast - they don't carry traps off or scream or thrash for ten minutes - it's almost instantaneous death.

Best and easiest trap!
So far these are the best and easiest traps that I've found. I've gotten others from Lowe's and Ace but these are the most effective. The only con is that the bugs are eating my bait before the rats can get to them. I haven't had one break yet. Sorry for the graphic photo but you can see that it kills quickly. The others from Lowe's can often leave a rat to rip it's tail off and suffer. I'd rather have a trap kill quickly. I've tried the repellents but am too worried that my dogs will get sick from sewer rats invading our yard. I highly recommend these traps. They also arrived super quick.

Nice rat trap!
These are basically rat traps that look a lot like the Victor plastic traps. While I haven't actually deployed the traps in anger yet, I've tested the triggers and they seem to be both more sensitive and more rugged than the ones on the light tan Victor plastic traps. Neither of the plastic traps can hold a candle to the old traditional wooden Victor traps in terms of sheer power and sensitivity, but they're a lot more convenient in a couple of ways: (1) they're much easier and safer, in terms of not smashing your fingers, than the old wooden ones; (2) they easier to maneuver into position without tripping; (3) they appear to be easier to clean, by rotation the non-killing part of the mechanism up and dumping the dead rat into a bag (or something).A couple of points bear mentionioning: (1) it's always a good idea to attach a wire or string to the holes at the non-bait end of the trap, so that if the rat jerks as it's triggering the trap, you won't lose the trap under furniture or in house framing; (2) peanut butter is, and always likely will be, the best rat bait; and, (3) this is more a rat trap than a mouse trap -- it's big, it's baaaaad, and it might miss a small rodent.

Best ones yet !!
Received traps yesterday and set 4 of them last night. SUCCESS !! Got 3 deer mice and one pack rat last night. Will set them again tonight, plus one more mouse trap. Other taps I've tried have had little success, since the critters often get the bait (peanut butter) off the trips, and they sometimes get tripped with no critter caught in that trap.Gave 2 of these to a neighbor here to try at his place. Will also get some for another friend who has an apparent swarm of kangaroo rats at her place.Really like these.

When a smaller trap won't do....
Just received 2nd order. I bought these traps because I knew I had a large rat to catch. For days, I experimented with location and bait. With no results, I thought the traps were a dud. However, I finally found the sweet spot (location) and caught 3 mice within 24 hours and another a day later.I will say the tension on the trap isn't quite as strong as I would like. For the big rat, it only trapped him - he flailed around for the better part of a day because I didn't want to go near him. I feel badly that he suffered and would have preferred a quicker death. Per exterminator recommendation, had someone step on the trap to finish the kill. Too bad. Smaller mice didn't die instantly, but quickly enough.I would recommend these traps.

Works great for chipmunks
I purchased these traps as the chipmunks are getting very destructive and way too many. I set two traps with peanuts for bait. I had one in each trap within 30 minutes. The traps did their job. I believe if you need to get rid of the chipmunk, this is the best way. Poison is out because if other animals. The bucket of water I just didn't want to do.

Best part is that this rodents are very intelligent
I posted a 5 star review time ago and purchased more of these and now i have about 10 of this traps useless. Only a few months after purchasing them, they all lose hold and became useless. I tried to contact the seller for guarantee but no answers. Better spend your money somewhere else.

Not one critter caught!
I set all four traps outside to catch chipmunks. Two of the traps could not be reset after one use. The plastic catch would not hold the spring load. It is possible that the heat from the sun weakened the catch and it sprung on its own and could not be reset. The other two traps work but after repeated setting, I caught nothing. If the critter enters the trap from the rear, the trap gets sprung and in the wrong direction. I put bricks around the trap so they had to enter from the front. I still did not catch anything. They look great, but for me they were worthless. I plan to return them.
