KALTOSTAT(R) dressing is a soft, sterile dressing made of calcium-sodium alginate fiber that converts to a firm gel/fiber mat on contact with fluid. It is designed to absorb exudate and to help control minor bleeding. It may be appropriately used for moderately to heavily exuding wounds including Stage II-IV pressure ulcers, venous ulcers, arterial and diabetic ulcers, donor sites, superficial burn wounds, lacerations and abrasions, traumatic wounds, and after-surgical wound debridement. Each sterile dressing is individually wrapped and measures 3" x 4 3/4".

easy to put into your medkit
I admit this is a bit of a "prepper" item but imagine you're off for a week or two in the wilderness and you need to cope with a reasonably serious injury. Sure, KwikClot will staunch the immediate bleeding and so long as you pack and bind the wound you'll be in reasonable shape but... suppose you now need to let it go through the healing process during the time you're walking out of the wilderness. This dressing is ideal for that moment, because it lets the wound drain naturally while maintaining a sterile environment and promoting tissue regeneration. Ideally you'll never need it (and let's face it, few people do more than day hiking these days) but it's reasonably lightweight, easy to put into your medkit, and in my opinion it's a very useful addition for those "just in case" moments. There's a trend to go ultra-light when backpacking/hiking and I totally understand the appeal. But there's a countervailing belief among those of us who've been stuck out in the sh*t from time to time that "it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it." So if like me you're in the latter camp, this is a must-buy.

what do I do if I like it!
Picture shows box of 10, I received one dressing for $9.89. Does say "by the each" I thought it was the box of 10.Found another listing for $51.00 showing same box of 10 and saying "by the each", what does that mean you get 10 boxes?I don't think so. Careful when buying.Have not used product yet, what do I do if I like it!

fast delivery
This item was recommend by another person who has kidney disease and does dialysis at home. Sometimes once the needles are removed it doesn't clot right away and this will help a lot. Recommend seller
