The Alien's Ransom: A SciFi Alien Warrior Romance (Drixonian Warriors Book 1)

“She Is All”
I get it - blue, horned alien hover bike gangs seems like a whole lotta cheese. Sci-if is definitely not my preferred romance sub-genre, either, so I had a lot going against me here. I mainly picked up The Alien’s Ransom to support Ella Maven in her new endeavor. And then I was promptly put in my place by this book.It starts with a bang when six human women are deposited on a faraway planet with no hope of returning home. They’re caught between warring races on this planet, and they end up with the Drixonians - blue skinned humanoid aliens with lots of piercings, serious onboard weaponry, horns, tails and a penchant to ride on hover bikes as a group (think motorcycle gang). The women question whether they’ve landed with the good guys or the bad guys, and it becomes clear very quickly that the Drixonians are the good guys, but there are plenty of bad things out there, so sticking with these guys is the women’s only hope of survival. The Alien’s Ransom follows one woman - Frankie - and the leader of this particular Drixonian clan, Daz. Together, they form an alliance of sorts, followed by a more important relationship. Ella Maven gives us the backstory seamlessly as Daz gives Frankie the lay of the land, so to speak. We learn about their planet, about the war that is looming, and about the Drixonian people and their customs.Frankie and Daz’s relationship forms quickly, but under the circumstances, it’s not unbelievable either. I love how Daz showed no hesitation in making Frankie his priority in all things. This alien will absolutely make you swoon. Conversely, I liked how Frankie remained wary for awhile, despite Daz proving time and again that she could trust him. She just found out aliens were real and is going through the emotions of being severed from her home and everyone she loves - it’s only natural that she should give some pause to everything happening around her. There’s an awesome amount of action and suspense in this book. It does a great job of introducing us to future characters and giving us people to root for and others to despise. We get to catch up with Tark and Anna (from the free prequel novella The Alien’s Future - not necessary to read it, but I highly recommend you do!) and are left with more than a few questions that will undoubtedly carry over into future books.Put aside your preconceived notions. If you’re a lover of romance and strong, alpha males who will literally do ANYTHING for their women, you NEED to give this book a go. You won’t be disappointed.

Give the Drixonians a chance to steal your heart!
3.5!Well. Turns out I like alien romance? Who knew. Definitely not me, that's for sure! I picked this one up for the BaeClub Romance Reads book club, and I never would have read it on my own. I definitely went in expecting to hate it or find it ridiculous. And to a degree I do find it ridiculous. But in the best trashy romance type of way. At the beginning of the book, I was rolling my eyes over some things and definitely said "what the heck" out loud more than once. But I quickly found myself hooked and devoured the book over two nights. I even went and downloaded the free novella and I'm for sure buying book two. I gotta say I'm hooked on these giant blue Drixonian dudes.Honestly what made this book hook me was probably Frankie. I related to her, because I too use humor inappropriately to cope with things! I liked that she got to find her strength and grow throughout the story. I like the bits of the other women we get to meet too. And I gotta tell ya, I love the aliens. I do. I like their personalities and how they're all unique. Also I'm here for a species that's entire life is built around protecting and caring for women. So if you're an open-minded romance reader who doesn't mind some weirdness and also likes to laugh at the books you read, give this one a chance! It's shockingly captivating and enjoyable!! I for one am so ready for the rest of this series!

She Is All
3.7 starsI have read plenty of space opera and light space romance but alien romance isn't something I come across often especially with the males having so many differences. You already know what the book is about so I'll skip that and just dive in.The characters were well developed and believable for the most part. The world was interesting but fell a bit flat since it was secondary to the characters. This has smut but it wasn't cringe worthy. I wouldn't have been so willing so soon, but she does hold off longer than I though she would have. I did hate the C word tossed out all the time but that's a personal preference. The aliens were interesting and I wanted to know more about them and their societies. Most alien romances always have the same tropes (only males since females some how died off from war or illness, the need for females from earth to Breed out, rape and slavery) These tropes were here but executed well. It was believable and didn't go to far. No rape in this book.Overall an enjoyable read, but heavy on the smut.

Read The Series!!
I wanted to review the series after I read it in it's entirety and give it with the first book. The plot was well planned and made me want to read each one to see what would happen next in the world of the exiled Drixonians. The characters were fantastic, each with sadness and hope and memories, good and bad. The honorable Drixonions were such a change from other male characters that it was just too sweet and sexy. All of ladies found strength they never realized they had and were appreciated for it because women were powerful in the Drixonion society. I highly recommend these books and will follow this author, she writes in a style that is entertaining and unique. I hope she writes for older ladies in the future, we have lots of time to read!

So glad I read this!
Okay I do have Hang-Ups on Syfy because I just can't wrap my head around original terminology. But I fell in love with the characters. Daz so sure in his actions but with a troubled heart. Frankie coming into herself and girling-up. I didn't even notice the wording and just enjoyed myself, so much that I bought what Ella Maven had in the series. And I think I read this book in less then 5 hours somehow. And I can't forget Hap so cute and innocent or Gar oh heck all the guys how could forget them. Even the side characters showed personally for the short time they where given. It makes me excited to see where this goes!

Brilliant book
I really, really, really enjoyed reading this book, usually I don't like alien books, so I don't bother or try a few pages and give up, but not this book, I really did enjoy it from the very first page all the way to the end. I will try other books by her.

This was a fun Romp…big blue horned Bikies!
I really enjoyed this…there was no Insta-love…and Daz is the perfect motorcycle riding alpha male! After the women wake up in the spaceship..I was expecting the usual kidnapped human helpless women syndrome! I was pleasantly surprised..Frankie..is the usual screwup on earth..but out on another planet trying to survive she’s quite bad ass!The world building is good..and I think there will be an interesting back story if I read between the lines…A great start to an interesting series..I look forward to reading more!

A brand new SFR to devour ❤️
It's been a few months since I last read SFR and I must say this book was a glorious welcome back into the genre. If you've loved Ruby Dixon's IPB and Zoey Draven's Luxirian series then you should definitely read this. Lots of similar arcs like the kidnapped humans and deadly virus killing off the female population. But, these guys are the alien version of a motorcycle club and boy do their protective instincts go off when they find their fated mates. Lots of action and fighting the bad guys, gooey romance and sheet scorching smut.

A little over the top. 3.5 stars.
It was a decent read for me. I have read quite a few alien romances in my time and this one tended to be a little extra. The hero’s appearance, the sex (extra appendages anyone?), the soulmates part of the romance.Overall it was a decent read and I’ll read the next in the series if I find it.
