When you need to focus and knock out that paper, at midday in the office, before you hit the gym, while dancing at a show or to start your morning off the right way. Aquadopa is derived from the ancient Indian herb mucuna pruriens.

First time use and I'm already impressed. I came ...
First time use and I'm already impressed. I came home from a walk with the dog and just wanted to lay down. After one Aquadopa I'm alert and have more energy. I'll add to this review after I have more experience, but I'm impressed so far. None of the other energy drinks have given me this boost. After one month I can say this product does boost focus and energy. However, every time I drink a can I like the taste less. It has a nasty (to me) after taste that is making it hard to stomach. I mix it with ice tea which helps somewhat, but doesn't get rid of the aftertaste.

Interesting new class of performance beverage
I'm always looking for new products to enhance performance, so I was very interested to try aquadopa and evaluate the effects. Aquadopa is a new class of drink unlike anything else on the market due to the inclusion of an extract from a plant called mucuna pruriens, a.k.a. velvet bean. This is combined with tyrosine, taurine, gingko biloba, and a small amount of caffeine. The idea behind the drink is that the amino acid L-dopa - found in abundance naturally in mucuna pruriens - is a chemical precursor to the neurotransmitter dopamine, which plays a vital role in motivation, focus, reward, cognitive function, and arousal. The other ingredients are meant to have a synergistic effect. The drink itself comes in a small can of 8.4 ounces, and is non-carbonated. It has a very surprisingly pleasant and clean taste which is somewhat reminiscent of an iced cappuccino, but without the strong aftertaste of coffee. Interestingly, I was told that it left my breath with a fresh smell. The beverage is a clear liquid with a hint of caramel color. There are no artificial colors, preservatives, or sweeteners in the drink, which is important to most health conscious people. There is a small amount of sugar added for light sweetness to balance the herbal flavor from mucuna. I definitely wouldn't describe it as overly sweet. My first taste was a hesitant sip, and I found it to be very enjoyable. Definitely best served cold. I tried it both refrigerated and over ice, and either seemed very good. I liked the fact that you could taste the actual herb.Let me first say that I went into this with a very skeptical mindset. So for my experiment I tried the drink after exercising, and on an empty stomach. I thought that although the conditions weren't strictly scientific, they would best allow me to evaluate the effects of aquadopa. At first I did not notice anything. I didn't notice any caffeine jitters after drinking aquadopa, and I definitely wouldn't classify this as an "energy drink" because the effects were very different. About 15-20 minutes after drinking a whole can I started to feel very motivated and began making a list of things I needed to get done that day. A companion who was with me later commented that he noticed that my conversation went from being very talkative and random to being more thoughtful, contemplative, and intense. It was an interesting experience because I had to do some statistics homework which involved complex mathematical calculations and I was amazed at how calm and focused I felt as I did the problems. I can't say exactly when the effect wore off, as I didn't notice any hard "crash" like I do with energy drinks or coffee. But I would say there was a gradual tapering and the extra boosted sense of focus and motivation lasted at least several hours. I also didn't feel wired or have trouble sleeping later, as I would have with coffee or energy drinks. With a background in biochemistry, I evaluated the science behind the main ingredient. Mucuna pruriens has been used safely in traditional medicine in many parts of the world for thousands of years. It contains several compounds with known biochemically active properties including L-dopa, which is used in modern medicine to treat several conditions including Parkinson's disease, ADHD, and restless leg syndrome. I reached out to the developer of aquadopa, Dr. Andrew Hemmen, and verified his credentials as a board certified doctor of internal medicine. He said he had spent several years researching the brain science behind factors like drive, focus, and motivation, and realized that it may be possible to boost these factors with herbal supplements. For obvious reasons Dr. Hemmen mentioned disclaimers and pointed out that many elements combine to help an individual be successful, and no drink or herbal concoction could possibly claim to make someone into something they are not. The idea was to scientifically combine ingredients whose effects were well known and documented. The other ingredients I already mentioned, and they are more widely known so I won't comment on them.Your experience may vary, but after trying one of these (available in Austin at Sprouts Farmers Market) I found out they just became available on Amazon and I ordered a case. For me, the effects matched the claims. I've repeated the experiment on myself and experienced similar effects.

I personally Know the Founder and He is Class Act and the Drink Works
I have had the pleasure of knowing the founder, Dr. Hemmen the last three years. So my testimonial is not completely biased, but I think it is a great product. He has great energy and is top notch in every way you can think of. After hearing he had a drink I learned more and decided to give it a try. I'm not into energy drinks and don't drink a lot of coffee. I must admit my intake has increased while I was in nursing school. I have found that when I drink energy drinks or coffee I sometimes still tank, or at least they don't save me from tanking. I ate a Mexican meal and had a beer approximately an hour before the first time I drank an Aquadopa. I instantly perked up. My wife was also tired and since she was pregnant I could not give her any as per written on the can. When we got home she took a nap. I stayed up looking at questions for my upcoming Licensing exam. I also recommended it to a friend. He told me he didn't really notice anything, but he did clean his whole house afterwards. I have noticed myself doing more useful things such as studying or researching things I have put off. Even writing this review. I always consider, but put reviews off. I did consider not writing this review so it is more likely there will be more available as this is sold out on amazon as I am writing this, but in the spirit of Dr. Hemmen I encourage those interested to try it. The tastes was fairly good. Not quite starbucks, but much better than black coffee. It has a bit of a kick. It is definitely worth the benefits.

Great Herbal Nutritional Supplement Drink that will help you to focus better! Forget Starbucks Double Shot.. Get This Instead!
This is an amazing beverage/nutritional supplement. I have tried it about 8 times and it really gives me that boost to stay focused, juggling multiple tasks and getting things done. It is due to the macuna (the herbal precursor of dopamine) and I don't mind taking something that enhances my ability to focus, accomplish more and still be on my best game. While I know this beverage is going to get a bit of a flavor makeover, it's great over ice and that's how I take it. It's like a juiced up iced tea. (and I don't mean juice + ingredients-- I mean amped up-- like an electrical charge). This is not a overdone caffeine jolt, or an overamplified sugar blast. It doesn't feature a lot of stuff that is a hazard to your health. It's just a great supplement that would make getting "work done" easier. It's something new and cutting edge. Try it.

Tastes like junk
I'm having my first can right now. The taste prompted me to write a review. The taste is as if you drank a full glass of fruit punch KoolAid, a cup of sweet black coffee and maybe you sipped a Corona as well, then vomited all that back up into a can and called it Aquadopa. As far as whether it works or not, I will edit my review to reflect it's effects.I'm ignoring the flavor for now because I want to see if it will work for me. However, if it does help me with focus and motivation and drive, I will most likely go searching for a Mucuna Pruriens supplement in pill form rather than drink this weirdly sweet disgusting concoction ever again. And as you may have guessed, I was not compensated for this review. ;)*edit- it's been one hour since I finished the can, and I am ready for a nap. I feel no increase in focus, drive or motivation. Perhaps 2 cans are needed for a better effect, but I am not willing to drink another one. Goodnight!
