This stuff really works
This product was used in a sort of unique way for a school project. A system of channels was constructed from 3/4" plywood, then carefully coated with this ice and water shield to make it watertight. As far as workability, this product can at times be difficult. It sticks really well to itself, not necessarily always to the plywood. What really helps this process is attention to detail when it comes to applying the product, then leaving the plywood in the sun (which on a roof is super easy) to help the membrane bond to the plywood. After working with dozens of rolls of ice and water shield throughout my career, I can safely say Grace makes a great product. The initial tackiness of the membrane is far superior to most other brands, though it can be frustrating at times if you're not used to it. Filling the channel we constructed with water and letting it sit for several days proves the product is easily capable of preventing water ingress on a roof. No leaks were noted across the surface area of the membrane, showing this product is some serious stuff. Shipping time was also very good, we needed this product ASAP and Amazon delivered it far quicker and more affordably than Home Depot. I would definitely recommend this product to people who would use in in a low-slope roofing scenario. The slippery surface is not ideal for gription, but the quality of the membrane with regards to water-tightness is far superior to other products. Also, the price can't be beat at the box stores, Amazon is the way to go.

Extremely temperature sensitive; "iffy" manufacturing quality control
We used 8 rolls of Grace Ice and Water on our reroof, and there were a couple of things that I didn't like about the product:1) The flexibility of the product varies WILDLY depending on the outdoor temperature, and getting "too flexible" makes it difficult, if not impossible, to work with. IMO, the only time that you can install this product in warm, sunny weather is first thing in the morning - applying it on the west side of a roof when it's sunny and in the mid-80's is a sticky nightmare, especially at deck-to-wall transitions.2) I'm not sure that Grace does much QA on this product - the "splitter" thread was rarely "close" to where it was indicated on the release sheet, making its use an exercise in tearing of a large area of release sheet and digging around in the the edge of the adhesive for the thread. Issues with the release sheet itself, which has the annoying tendency to be WAY past the sides of the roll, resulting in it rolling UNDER the I&W as you roll it out - and sticking where it shouldn't be.

DONT BUY FROM AMAZON
It came split in half. The worse Grace Ice and water shield ever! Not sticky and split when it was advertised as 3 feet by 75 feet. False advertising. I buy at Home Depot and no problems. Don’t ever buy this from Amazon!!!!

doesn't stick
Working at 60 degrees, 50+ degrees F overnight. Pressure rolled onto dusted/clean plywood. This stuff peels up very very easily two days later and corners aren't even adhered. Its basically just being held on by gravity. Am i supposed to torch it? Doesn't work.

Ice and water shield.
This item will work as described. Note that it does not work well on flat roofs and is not a permanent solution. For temporary roofing, it works very well.

This product had a defect
Factory failed to install the rip cord which is absolutely a must have to install !! I wasted the purchase price on a roof during a 95 degree day . Can't return after it was cut to length then discover they ran out of string during the manufacturing process .
