DO NOT BUY. OVERHEAT AND KILLS BATT.
Do not buy. Magnet is too strong for iPhones.I have an iPhoneXR and it overheated and drained my battery forcing my phone to be completely useless and shut off. Within four hours of minimal use my phone went from 100% down to 11%. That usually takes an entire 16 hours of moderate to high use.If a magnet is too strong it will interfere with electronic components and this is true when it comes to this product. Also, it made my phone incompatible with the wireless charger I purchased with the phone.Used this for 1 day and now it’s garbage. Waste of money.

Recommend magnetic mount solution
I purchased this mount for my iPhone XS that sits in a pelican case. I was initially concerned that the case would be too “heavy duty” to be used with this mount, but took a chance. Due to version 2 having two (2) magnets, I believe it made all the difference in being able to use my case. It’s sits firm and I can feel the strength of the pull/hold as I attach and detach the phone. The phone does slip/slide to the side if I’m on very bumpy roads, but if it’s a well paved roadway, I have no problems at all. I feel if I had a lighter weight case, that slippage would be virtually eliminated.I attached the larger metal plate of the included two (2) to the bottom end of the case, where the charging cable would go. I did so as I was planning to try wireless charging in the future and needed to keep the back of the phone clear of obstruction as much as possible. I have yet to try that feature and don’t know as of yet if my placement of the large metal plate will prohibit that.Because I placed the large plate at the bottom edge of the case, orienting the phone portrait wise isn’t as stable due to the leverage and weight of the phone and case. If wanting to orient the phone horizontally, I’d recommend placing a metal plate in the center of the case/phone. This is no problem for me as my phone sits primarily in the vertical position. The vent clips and lock are solid. The plastic material is thick and appears to be quite heavy duty. For the few weeks that I’ve owned this mount, I’ve had no problems with the mount on my vent (placed on a 2018 Toyota 4Runner, far left, driver side) or it’s stability. The magnets affecting the phone function are zero. Rare earth magnets are used so it won’t affect electronics or demagnetize things.Overall, I’d highly recommend this mount to anyone looking for a phone mounting solution. I was thinking of going with a cradle, but am real happy that I went the magnetic route. Phone is on and off in seconds and is extremely minimal.

Good Magnetic Vent Mount
Great mount. I have been using extensively for the past two weeks and it works fantastic, iOttie has done it again!I am using this mount on an iPhone XS Max with an Otterbox Symmetry case. While the large silver plate is not strong enough through the case, the small black plate installled on the outside of my case works flawlessly. If I do not use the case, the silver plate sticks very well to the mount. This mount may run into problems with larger, heavier phones as the actual vent grips may not fit every vehicle well. (-1 star)The plates do not interfere with wireless charging, when placed near the bottom of the device, but heat from the phone did appear to warm up the magnetic plates during my use. I would eye on the side of caution for those who plan on still using wireless charging.

Best cellphone holder I’ve ever owned. It’s the magnet!
I’ve purchased beanbag holders and air vent holders. This one outshines them both. My phone is in a convenient location and it’s not blocking the air vent or my view of the road. All good, but it’s the magnet that is truly great. It’s strong enough that it actually pulls my phone from my fingers when I hold it within a half inch or so from the holder. Only thing I might point out is some CD slots may hold it snugger than others. We have two cars and the holder is not snuggly held in either CD slot, but it’s good enough that it doesn’t fall out. It fits better in my wife’s 2012 Ford Edge with factory sound than in my 2004 Corvette with an aftermarket Jenson system. Like I said, it’s good enough so it doesn’t fall out of the slot. That may not be true for other car CD players, but that hasubeen my experience.

What I hoped for...
Use this with an iPhone XR and a Spigen Ultra Hybrid case. First, the screw clamp on the vent is totally solid. I can’t imagine this coming off (though I’ve only had this a week).I’ve used the smaller of the 2 magnets mounted on the phone inside the case. The magnet is mounted on the lower bout of the phone, hopefully avoiding interference with wireless charging ( which I’ve yet to test). The connection between the phone and the mount is solid in portrait mode. I’ve ridden over some construction and there’s no indication the phone will fall off. It won’t hold steady in landscape mode; it droops. The mount itself swivels 360 degrees. The swivel is stiff and a bit hard to move but it stays where you put it. Also, it projects far enough out from the vents to allow a meaningful amount of movement (on a 2015 Outback the vents slope up and away from the driver - placement on the vent together with the magnet mounted low also keeps the phone clear of the entertainment display). Hope this helps.

Works Very Well
I bought this for my 2014 Audi Q5, and it works very well. I installed the large metal plate on my iPhone 7 Plus (with the plastic protector), behind my Speck clear case. It all works very well. My only advice is to take your time when centering up the protective plastic and metal plate on your phone. I got in a hurry, and got mine a little crooked. It seems to be a high quality product to me.

Does the job!!
So convenient! Not an “eyesore”... I wanted something that wasn’t bulky looking in my Mercedes and I can still play a CD. I have an iPhone 7s with case, I think it’s heavy and this item holds it fine. I highly recommend this item before getting one that fits to a vent.

Wont hold iPhone XS Max
Been a fan of iOttie's magnetic phone mounts, but this one still has trouble holding an iPhone XS Max securely if the magnetic plate is placed in such a way that it doesnt interfere with the charging pad in the middle of the phone. Went back to a non-magnetic mount. If this doesnt matter to you, it's a great, non-obtrusive mount.

Think twice if ordering this for larger phone.
I choose this device because it looks Slimline. I have a large phone A Galaxy Note 10 plus. I put the metal plate at the base of the back of the phone. However the magnetic force is not enough to keep the phone in place during driving. The phone will slowly rotate the left or to the right especially if there is any type of bumping. When the phone rotates enough then it will reach a tipping point and simply fall off causing a potential accident. I wrote to the manufacturer and told them about this and they felt sure that it was because the metal plates supplied were defective. They sent me new metal plates but it made no difference at all.Having tried several other magnetic holders in the meantime then I now believe that I know what the problem is. Most other magnetic mounts appear to have four strong magnets and their mounts but this mount only has two magnets. That means half as much hold and two magnets stop the phone rotating less than four magnets.I believe that if you have a smaller phone or if you mount the magnetic plate in the middle of the back of the phone this isn't so much of a problem. However if you have a larger phone like me and because of the layout of your car you want to mount the plate at the bottom of the back of the phone then this can lead to a dangerous situation where the phone falls off the mount. Or at the very least the phone will slowly rotate while driving causing you much frustration for example if you are trying to use the navigation app.I actually like the quality of the product but I get the feeling that it was engineered when smaller phones were fashionable. The manufacturer needs to update the design and also take customers seriously.

Works well and keeps dash and windshield clear
Love this CD slot car mount holder. Holds my iPhone XR securely in place. Used to have windshield mount but would fall down in cold weather. This works much better. Magnets that come with it are very strong. No issues. Wish it had magnets for more than one phone but was able to buy more magnets for just $6.88. Love this product and am very happy with the quality.
