Well-built, works with my OX CNC Smoothieboard setup
The short answer is that this was definitely worth the money. I've been looking at laser modules that can be added to my CNC setup. While this is obviously meant to be used with the Atomstack, it seemed that I could run it with my PWM-capable setup, and it turns out I could. It shipped from China (as expected by the date range) and arrived slightly ahead of schedule, nicely packaged. There were no instructions that came with it but the unit is well put-together and there was a URL on the label. Reading the user guide, the piece of smoky acrylic that came with it is meant to be a spacer. Installation of the red beam filters was easy with the enclosed screws and allen wrench. The fit and finish are excellent, and the driver board appears to be properly designed and manufactured.None of the technical info described the pinout for the connector, which was only an issue for me since I was planning to connect it to my MKS SBASE (Smoothieboard clone). I emailed Atomstack tech support and got a prompt reply with an annotated image showing which pins are +12V, GND, and signal. The PWM parameters are actually on the label, and it appears to use TTL level (I am using 3.3V, most likely it works up to 5V).I am running the Smoothieboard at 24V but also have a 12V power supply. I connected the ground on the two power supplies as I was using the PWM signal from the Smoothieboard, then ran +12V and GND from the 12V power supply. I checked on my oscilloscope, the resulting PWM was slightly noisy but drove the laser exactly as expected.Mounting it to my V-slot Z turret required making a 3D printed part. Go to Thingiverse and look up papergeek and I should have my design for the L40 laser module up there. Since I was running fairly fat wires into the JST connector, I added a strain relief.Overall I'm very pleased with this.

Great product
This is my third one I bought. This works better than the other ones I have. The others took forever to cut through thin wood. It is made well too.
