faster to install and hidden from view
I've used a handful of these Ion Digital Plunger-G door sensors on GE systems. So far they've worked reliably, and are a bit easier to install compared to more traditional door sensors, which often require shims or spacers to get the two halves to align when the door is closed. As a bonus, this sensor is hidden from view. The manufacturer recommends installing the antenna straight out from the back of the unit. I've yet have a door frame where there was enough space behind the frame to do that. So the antenna usually goes into the frame several inches, then bends. (I cut the guide tube they supply so its length matches the straight portion.) This apparently hasn't limited the reception range enough to be noticeable.I haven't had any deployed for more than a few years, so I can't speak to the battery life. They've changed the design some. Earlier models (pictured here) relied on a friction fit to stay in the door frame. (You could optionally use some silicone sealant if the fit was loose.) The newer version has mounting ears with screw holes and comes with a couple of small screws. I never had a problem with the friction fit, and installing the screws is actually slower, but I guess you can consider them optional.

Doesn't work with Simon XT Panel
Doesn't work with the Simon XT Panel; at least not any more; last reviews on this were in 2014.

Nifty little sensor.
Works well. Sensor is completely hidden when door is shut and is barely noticeable when the door is open. Installation is a breeze if you have the correct drill bit. Just make sure you are purchasing the correct sensor for your security system brand.

Mistake
I made aMistake with this purchase. I have a DSC system while this sensor is made for a GE system. Did not look close enough at specs. My mistake. Am sure it works great with GE.

... with out Simon XTI panel immediately and were really easy to install
These plungers paired with out Simon XTI panel immediately and were really easy to install. My fiance and I are designers so when we bought our new house the big bulky window/door sensors had to go. I had the tools on hand so the install only took a few minutes, and was virtually painless.Update: We are almost two years in with these sensors and still love them, mostly I have forgotten they were there. The batteries have held up, and the sensors function without any issue. Hoping to install some of their window sensors soon too.

Great wireless sensor, easy to install and easy to conceal
I used these sensors with an ELK-M!XRFEG receiver on an Elk M1 Gold panel. The sensors worked out great. They were very easy to install with only a couple of drill bits needed (a 3/4" forstner and a 1/4" standard). Been using them for about a month now with no issue.

Great little sensor so far
Only had this for about 2 months now, but it was super easy to install and seems to be working well. Furthest one is about 40 feet away from the control panel, but also through several walls, a washer and dryer, and garage shelves packed with stuff. Works flawlessly so far. Compatible with Frontpoint/GE Simon control panel.
