Excellent product. Highly recommend.
This item is excellent. It says that it works for 30 (standing up) 30-40 (lying down) bags. I had purchased a huge box of 50 gallon bags prior to buying these, so I am using those. It still works. I use it with the unit on it's side. The opening is wider, but shorter (if that makes sense) to the photo they product shows, but I was able to bag 5 full 50 gallon bags of leaves in about 30 minutes time. Which included raking them. Product works great, and can be stored into any spot you have without taking up precious garage real estate. Glad I bought this one. Super easy to use. It "tri-folds" one way for storage, but you tri-fold it backwards (has resistance) and hold it in one hand, insert it into the bag and let go. It springs open, wanting to go back to the normal tri-fold position, which holds the bag open. Go to their website and look at how it can be used (extra trash cans for parties, recycling bin for your garage, etc, etc. Great product.

Works as promised.
I use the product for leaves, gardening, and garbage pickup...it saves time and it makes cleanup easier on the back. It's a simple, durable, and effective tool.

a real back and time saver
I can't do without my bag butler, so when mine disappeared from the yard I had to get a replacement right away. I got 2 so now I have a backup. I am a senior citizen with some back issues, and a whole lot of leaves to rake each fall. I can rake leaves directly into the bag, don't have to bend over to pick them up. I also use the butler to hold bag in upright position to empty mower bag and dispose of yard debris. I got my first one quite a few years ago. It lasted a long time but eventually wore out. Also gave one to my daughter. This is a simple but extremely useful tool to make yard chores easier.

An okay leaf bag helper
I found this product disappointing. Pro: Yes, it holds plastic trash bags open. I am a small adult so, my list of cons reflects this. Here they are: Each "Butler" is heavier than I expected. I saw no evidence of "dust-pan edges" on my "Butlers" as mentioned in the product description on the seller's product page. The first time I used one of the Butlers I found it difficult to load it into the trash bag, as the Butler was a bit heavy for me and no I don't have 3 hands, 3 arms, only the usual two. I did not read the instructions or watch the video. The bag-Butler kept tipping over, so I propped the set-up against a wall. I found the opening the Butler provides to be someone narrow for the rakes I was using. After I was done with the bag I was using, I removed the Butler. This part proceeded as expected as the Butler was not difficult to remove. However, I did find that I had made a small hole in the side of the trash bag. I went to load another bag into my Butler, but this time I read the instructions on the Butler, before loading the trash bag. This was a big mistake. The instructions tell the user to turn the side of the Butler with the embossed instructions toward the user's front and apply tension to hold the two open sides inwards, apparently one handed. Then with the user's remaining hand the trash bag should be pulled onto the far or bottom end of the Butler and slid upwards. My hands are not long enough, large enough to grab and hold both handles in the sides of the Butler at the same time. I put the Butler down on a flat surface and pushed on the side closest to me with my knee while trying to grab both handles so they would move close enough together to hold with one hand. The side that I was pushing with my knee snapped and broke off the Butler. So now I have a broken Butler. Good thing I bought two. When I carried the whole mess down the stairs of my upstairs deck one-handed it was a bit heavy on that side of my body. As I said I'm little. I think the hinges on the Butler are too stiff. This is not a good product if you have small hands and short arms as I do. I am dissatisfied with this product. I would not buy it again.

Not for larger bags
Someone answered a question on this product that these would accomodate larger trash bags. They do not work with really big (drum sized) bags which I find best for big piles of leaves. Bummer.

Great Idea, and I need help keeping the bags ...
Great Idea, and I need help keeping the bags open for my pine straw BUT it doesn't work with the paper bags that are required by my county.

Simple and convenient
Few such inexpensive items deliver such utility. I'm sorry I didn't order then before. t suppose you could accomplish the same thing with an old cardboard box, but the material would never hold up. As is, they are simple, easy to use, and effective. I for sure would recommend purchasing the "leaf scoops" that come up when you order the Bag Butler - the two in combination improved my leaf pick-up exponentially.
