GREAT tub style cage for a Syrian hamster to burrow
We were given a hamster and my 8 year old (after doing copious research) informed me that the Petsmart Tiny Tails cage the previous owner bought was all wrong for a hamster. So, I bought this Duna Space cage from Ferplast and it is EXCELLENT.Duna cage PROs:DEEP TUB - very happy burrowing hamster (and I didn't have to DIY a tub myself)EASY TO CLEAN - I cannot say this enough, the Duna Space is SUPER EASY TO CLEAN. I can spot clean the deep bedding, but so far haven't needed to because the hamster collects up her waste and carries it to her sleeping spot in the old Tiny Tails cage which is a nightmare to clean. I might just be refreshing the bedding when it doesn't fluff up enough, not due to any smell or waste.TUBES CONNECT - I managed to get the Ferplast and GNB tubes to connect to the Duna Space, but I also managed to get them to attach to the old Tiny Tales cage using an emery board to file edges of the Tiny Tales hole. The Tiny Tales tubes don't connect to the Duna Space holes or other tubes at all, too small.PLATFORM AND TUBE HOLES can be attached on either side of the cage to accommodate added accessories (see below).Duna cage CONs:WHEEL - the one that comes with the Duna Space is totally useless, too small for ANY hamster. It and the tiny wheel from the old Tiny Tales cage both are just more plastic for the landfill. :(WATER BOTTLE - I don't expect to keep it long, suction cup attachments are always lousy. But I haven't figured out how best to hang the water bottle from the old cage to the Duna cage yet.PRICE - $93 is high since the wheel and water bottle are both inadequate. $70 would be more fair, like another reviewer states. What we added to the Duna Space cage:As recommended by another reviewer, I purchased a Niteangel Super-Silent Hamster Wheel for $30 in size Medium on Amazon. Yes, a ten inch wheel is too tall to mount over the platform, so I took the wheel off the acrylic base it came with and mounted it directly to the wire of the cage just above the burrow bedding. Syrian hamster LOVES this bigger wheel and it is absolutely silent.GNB 94 pcs Hamster Tunnel and Playground Module for $36.99. All tubes connect very well, plenty of pieces and are very sturdy. Will get creative rearranging them.SatisPet Hamster Sand Bathroom - I baked some play sand (375 degrees for an hour) from a local hardware store, let it cool and filled the tray. Hamster so far uses it to dust herself, not as a toilet and the sand is safer than the too fine dust sold online (according to my 8 year old daughter who is swiftly becoming an expert on rodent care). Our new hamster is accustomed to sleeping in the top of the Tiny Tales cage, so until she decides to sleep in the Duna Space cage, I will keep the old cage connected to it. Might look into getting more items to add to the Duna Space to encourage her.

Little squeak loves it
100% recommend this cage for small fat little hamsters, maybe not big fluffy ones as the tubes on the cage probably aren’t wide enough but my sisters hamster squeak just loves this cage, it’s way better than any cage you can buy at the pet store! I did run into a little trouble when I was assembling the cage, such as those white bars surrounding the cage, those are held together by 2 plastic pieces one on each side, when I first tried to click them in place they didn’t fit in the bars right. finally after a while I realized the white bars were upside down (which is really hard to notice cause they all look the same no matter which way you flip them) and when taking off the pieces to readjust them one of them broke in half lol. The cage still holds together fine but it’s just things like that. You REALLY have to pay close attention to the pictures, but once it’s built trust me your hamster will love it :) tons of room to burrow, tubes, a wheel, little house, water & food bowl. Squeak has never been happier & his happiness is definitely worth the price :)

A good choice for small hamsters
I apologize for typos and any difficult grammar and ,mess in photos, still figuring out how to arrange everything best. This is my day 1 impressions of the cage. Compared with previous cage I would say this is equal material value and would say it should be priced closer to 70$ for a fair value. So it’s a bit high in price and take a lot to assemble so I am taking off a star for this reason.Fast pros:Deep bin for burrowing!Connects to Ferplast and GNB tubesThe accessory ledgeFood bowl is fineSmall hiding spaceLarge opening for accessing cage without taking it apart.Clear bottom to see any tunnels your hamster has made close to the sides.Fast cons:Small noisy wheel needs to be replaced with larger wheelWater bottle is a soft plastic, and slides in holder. For smaller hamsters.I have not had to clean it yet, but I think cleaning it will be a lot of work.Takes a ton of bedding to fill, but also won’t have to be changed too often ( you can spot change)The length and width of this cage is a bit smaller than recommended minimum for a hamster. It’s best to have extra tubes or a second cage for them to explore. This cage is definitely the pre-made bin tub cage(please search online DIY bin cages for more info). The bottom is the same material as you would get a plastic bin made from, a softer plastic rather than a harder one. I’m not sure if this is a plus or a draw back. I did decide to drill in a few tiny (1/32) air holes along the bottom since it is deep and I am paranoid about the hamster getting air at the bottom . The plastic was easy to work with to drill the holes so that is a plus. But also if you do this make sure there is no left over material that can catch on the hamster and the wholes are tiny so they don’t get their hands stuck ever. For putting the cage together the instructions are picture only. Some parts can be put together wrong, so be really careful when looking at the pictures and orienting everything correctly. The cost of this cage is maybe a little bit high. I certainly paid way too much for it, but I also wanted the large bin for our hamster to burrow in without the hassle of making one myself from a bin. So if you just want to skip the design phase and go right to the assemble this is an excellent pick. Though it will still take a while to rinse that parts and assemble. We have 3 cages in the house, and have only had the smallest of animals. We started with mice with a GNB PET Hamster Cage DIY Habitat. This was a super great cage for mice and came with a fair number of tubes, but not enough to really get a lot going on in or around the cage.We had bought 2 expansion packs for the mice and that really seamed to get a lot of great tub action going for them. After our mice passed away we decided to go for a dwarf hamster. He is of similar size to the mice, so the tubes work out great for him. He can even turn around in them so they are well suited for his super small size. With it’s large floor space and a nice 4” deep bed we first opted to go for the Favola Hamster Cage which measure’s 23.6” in length, 14.4 inches in width and 11.8 inches in height. We did wish it was a bit higher, and this cage as a very small access opening to it, making it difficult to work inside it unless the top is off completely, however, it connects fine with the GNB pet tubes so it has been an excellent cage.As a young hamster our little guy, avoided our hamster tubes for the most part so we didn’t offer them to him for a long time sadly. Unaware how important burrowing and space is to such a small creature we used this cage alone for about a year. Hamsters don’t really start burrowing until the bedding is over 6” I believe, and are far more satisfied with bedding closer to 11” for burrowing. Our hamster runs frantically at night, and seams likely bored. I introduced the tubes and got a third set for him. He seamed to take to the tubes very well at this point, but I would still hear him trying to dig into the bottom of the cage like he wanted to burrow. I think this Duna cage is rather newer to the market, but I’m unsure. When I saw it I said hey… why not, let’s give this one a try. So I’m really happy to give our tiny friend the opportunity to burrow.Once I had the cage set up and connect via tubes to the previous cage he immediately took interest in it and spent a great deal of time exploring it. Today it looks like he is happily asleep in this new cage also.I have replaced the wheel with a Niteangel super silent size small. The niteangel is pictured in the cage, but I included a picture to show the difference between the 5.5” wheel and 8.6” wheel. The reason to opt for a larger wheel, especially if you have a larger hamster is for their backs. If the hamster’s back curves while running it can be very bad for them. Please research which wheel size is best for your hamster. This cage would not fit a 10” wheel on a stand in it easily. It might be able to take a 10” wheel if it can connect to the bar on the side. The water bottle is very difficult to work with and it doesn’t seam like out little hamster really likes it. (luckily we still have the other bottle he can go visit.) Since it’s made from a soft plastic you need to be really careful loading it into the holder as if you squeeze on it water will shoot out. If you are only buying this one cage you will also probably want to get a different water bottle. For now I am planning on using the little hid out for his sand bath, but has a few other structures that can be swapped out to keep him from getting too bored.Over all, since I really love building tube structures, and out hamster at least appears to like to spend time exploring them, these two connecting cages seam to make a great pair since I didn’t want to bother with any do-it-yourself construction. If you are looking to have a simple deep cage for a hamster I would say this one is fine, but do be aware that some parts are best thrown in the trash or repurposed, like the wheel. This cage has a smaller overall area, so if you don’t plan on getting a second enclosure for your hamster, I would recommend grabbing a lot of extra tubes like the GNBs since they have pieces to make small rooms with them and can give your pet a nice long path to run along.

DONT BUY THIS!!!! Flimsy and small, had to replace most parts
Edit: the tubes came unattached even after I had to hot glue and tape them where they're supposed to be. My cats got our poor hamster overnight. DONT BUY THIS. ITS ABSOLUTE TRASHThis cage is way too small for hamsters and has almost no floor space. The wheel is also too small and had to be replaced, the water bottle doesn't stay attached so we had to tape it, the tubes that attach to the cage and go outside then back in don't stay attached, theyre so loose it falls without even having any pressure on it. I'm so disappointed by this cage. The price tag is comical.. just get a big bin from Walmart and you'll have a much happier hamster for $13!!

Great cage for hamster
My daughter loves the fact that she can watch her hamster burrow through its bedding.
